TASCAM DP-01 FX CD AND KRK ROKIT 5

Hey guys im writing cus ive tried searching everywhere and cant find the answer ive looked at my manuals and since im a bit confused maybe on of yall could help me out, i have an mpc 2000xl and a tascam dp-01 fx multitrack i just got me a pair of krk rokit 5 active monitors that each came with a 20ft xlr cable but im not sure how to connect them to my tascam, i got rca out on the back but thats unbalanced and i heard to get the best out of my krk's is to have a balanced signal the krk have xlr trs and rca input
but my tascam has only rca and a stereo mix L and R wich fit 1/4" but how would i hook up my monitors to this? is it balanced input? any help thanks

Left RCA Output of Tascam -to- Left RCA Input of Left KRK speaker

Right RCA Output of Tascam -to- Right RCA Input of Right KRK speaker

The Stereo Mix on your Tascam is useful to connect a DJ set up to it to mix the songs on the Tascam, it doesn't record to the DP. I use it to connect a SP-303 to playback movie clips. The only way to record from Stereo Mix is to record it externally via the RCA OUT or the Digital Out. You can have both active so the RCA can be connected to your KRKs and the digital out to a cd recorder.

@Ill-Green Thanks alot homie, so the only way to hook up this gear is using unbalanced RCA? no other alternatives, my krk's came with 20ft XLR cables thats why
i was hoping to use this as a balanced signal but i guess my Tascam Doesnt Have That option right? Thanks Again G.

balanced signals really make a difference if you are running very long (hundreds of feet) of cable or you have a lot of other noise.
rca's or the 1/4" will be totally fine - hook them up.

Yes, besides, those XLR cables are good for on-stage microphones and speakers with actual XLR connections like Mackie.

But with RCA, you're good to go. Get good cables with gold plating if you're worried about quality. Monster Cables are high-end and Radio Shack still sells all kinds of brands, check them out there to compare prices. And if the speakers are gonna be close to your set-up, then a 6ft cable would be sufficient.

I think the DP-01 was the best they ever made. Its more featured and sturdy than the DP-03 which feels like a cheap walkman and doesn't even have MIDI, Digital Out, or the 40GB HD like the DP-01.

The DP-01 really messed up by not have a backlight for the display.
I used to use the DP-01 FX/CD with the JJ OS 1k for a nice small easy to use setup, but hated the unlit display.

Yeah, I do dread that the LCD is without a backlight on the DP-01. Thinking about upgrading to the new DP-24 which is 24 tracks at 24 bits. I'll have to rent one to see how it sounds with my workflow, but its like a NEO at $699
