Holla At Me ..Seriously

For the sake of all things holy I need a simple step by step explanation of how to record to seperate tracks so I can mute tracks.Talk in plain language please.I done gave out drum kits freely and helped others on this board.Show some love.

record on track 1
name it something recognizable like loop or kick or snare
Highlight " track 1"
use data will to scroll to track 2
record on track 2
name it something recognizable
Repeat as needed
hit track mute
play around for a while
hit record

p s not in it for the drum kits

On the SU700 everything is laid out in front of you. On that machine PAD and TRACK was synonymous, you simply pressed the pad, hit sample and it was there.You couldn't LAYER multiple samples on ONE pad.It makes me wonder if work flow can be copywritten between manufacturers?Hmmm???
