i've made a few beats in sound forge, took a little bit to get used to, but personally i think its fun once you get it down.

i've been using sf audio studio 9 since it came out

I knew CDA went away but had no idea they incorporated it into SF10. 8)
Back in the day, CDA was the best program to individually track and label songs in my continuous DJ mixes to burn and play on CD.

Yeah, all my mixes were finished off in CDA. It was perfect for splitting a set into tracks and adding a limiter to level out the peaks etc.

It seems like there's a 9 week countdown to when this is announced, so hopefully they've really gone to town on it!

Lamp, you mentioned batch conversion....is this fairly intuitive? I need a decent batch converter/editor for making samples SP/MP comatible....Lately Ive been chopping samples in PT, and that shit kinda sucks...I have a hard drive loaded with samples and Ive never really messed with any of them because they are disorganized and in different formats...

Sorry, I could RTFM, but I like learning from users about specific benefits, I used soundforge a LONG time ago, but I cant really remember all of its functions and Im sure there are new implementations.

bro, soundforge shits on PT for chopping samples, if you need a chopper soundforge is the **** messiah.

i almost shit myself when i read the title of this thread.

batch conversion works, i havnet used it myself, but it seems intuitive enough from reading the sf10 manual.

i havent used it since version 6 and even then i was using soundforge audiostudio. i messed with the full version of sf9 for a very short time and it was dope too.

basically, if you need to chop samples and you want the easiest way to do it, you need to get it.

ill show you some key commands that i remember here

M= place a marker where your cursor is at.
R= place a region, that is, if you have a highlighted section, you get two markers on either side of your selection.
;= halve your current selection, works wonders if you have a 1 bar chop lined up, then halving it, then fine tuning to get it exactly where you want.
'= doubles your selection, works the same way if you need 2 bars instead of 1.
up and down on the arrow keys zooms in and out of where your cursor is located

another dope feature is, when you select something, you can make the region show bar lines, in the selection, and you can choose how many it shows, so if you have 1 bar highlighted, inside your highlighted selection, it will show 3 ghost markers that are at the downbeats of your selection. assuming its in 4.4 time. im pretty sure you can change the time signature too, so it will show different ones.

i cant speak on mastering with it as i never did, but for chopping samples its dope, and definitely worth the money.

i have been waiting for it to be released on mac for along time. every other audio editor is second tier imo.

Sound Forge > Any sound editors, ever.

I setup Sound Forge in Windows XP in Parallels on my mac...and put the short cut on my dock. This is the closest I can get to SF on my mac.

If they made an official mac version, I'd buy it, on day one.

Anybody remember Sonic Foundry? I think it was at ether version 4.0 or 4.5 when the conglomerate Sony took to the helm.

This is some of my history dealing with the forge.

Years ago, I bought a Smart & Friendly SCSI internal CD burner bundled with Sonic Foundry 4 and CD Architect. That's when I learned about their Acid Pro series.

I started using SF in 2000 when it was Sonic Foundry... I can't remember what version it was, but I stuck with version 6 for the most time.

There's online chatter about SF and Vegas coming to the Mac, which could be interesting.
