finally copped a 4k!

it got shipped today

adat io, efx card, analog outs, 264 mb RAM, 60 bg hd, dvd drive. has the works. hella stoked on it!
might upgrade to the 512 RAM later on, but im used to the 128 that the 1k and 2500 have so i think ill be good for awhile.

You've only been talking about it for the past year so well done on finally getting one!

Is it in decent condition? Pricey or a good deal?

it was pretty pricey, 1395 included the shipping, but it was the best condition one with all the upgrades that i wanted.

i sold my 2500 to help finance it too, i already have a 1k with jjos2xl, so ill be good on that front too.

its being sent my way now, should be here july 2, im gonna be out of town working though, so ill have it when i get back.

welcome to the world of the 4k...haha. I'm still rocking the 256ram and have never ever come anywhere close to filling that up. If you're just choppin records and breaks, you won't.

So I'm not the only 4K newbie but you have experiance with the 1000 and 2500. I hope your 4K is in good shape. I have to buy a new Pad Sensors and probably Pad Set so that's a bit of a bummer

the unit arrived with a broken screen, im seeing about refunds and such now.

That's annoying...

When you say it's broke, what is actually happening when you turn it on?


Edit: I just noticed your other thread.

It might be worth opening it up and checking the featherweight ribbon cable that dangles down. I'm sure that's the main screen cable.

There's a good chance its the ribbon cable that connects the screen to the main board (it is the one coming from the top part) so opening the mpc might be a good idea. It won't make returning it any easier if the seller realises you have opened it.

Also, and this is IMPORTANT. If you open the mpc be sure that it is disconnected from the mains, not just switched off. The psu inside is capable of giving very nasty shocks

Once the cover is down it is safe enough to power on. In other words don't assume you have fixed it, screw it all back together, only to find out you have not fixed it.

One more thing, don't open it right up straight away otherwise you will disconnect the ribbon cable. Open it, say 10cm, take a torch and look inside to see how much length there is on the cable. You'll be able to see if it is disconnected, loose or needs re seating.
