can you play the 4000 like lets say a s5000 or z4, you know like a regular rack sampler?

Yes, it's a fully spec'd Z-Series akai sampler. You can easily create keygroups and map samples to them. You can then access the sounds via the pads or a midi controller keyboard.
Hey dammix i relaize that you seem to be the man on the 4000k so i'm wondering if theres anyway of asking you a few things by phone if it possible, i'd like to link up with you if thats ok ,heres my number its my cell but its 718 930 6587, i'm coming back to NYC on friday from LA i just bought the MPC 4000 and i'm alittle confused on certain things seems to be way different form the 2000XL so help me out if you can please....GrooveGalore

If you are clever which I know many of yall are you can create albums worth of toons on an MPC 2000 with nary a computer in sight
I DID just that for 2 of my recent albums
and the 2XL is a step up from the 2000 which Im sure yall know
for me th kicker that made me up to the 4000 was the sheer MEMORY power.. the organized auto alphabetizing capabilities of the internal harddrive and the ability to take your lifes worth of samples with you in one machine... My gripe w/.the 4000 is the fact that there is no Midi A & B like the 2000XL which comes in handy when running loads of analog and premidi analog gear (but thats another story)
and the dope filters that are tweakable on the FLY are fantastic on the 4000 and we all know the main problems with the filter on the 2000 and XL
However Its a bear to get around at first with the 4000 but hey so was the XL
anything in time will become comfortable
and Im computer ILLITERATE so for me I HAVE to use my MPCs
which I LOVE to death...
I use these machines every day for hours for a living and I STILL have not exhausted the capabilities of the 4000 but I wouldnt suggest a beginner to start with the 4000 as its a real bear if you "DO NOT SPEAK MPC language"
