Hey guys.
Have anyone tried installing sata 2.5 hdd via IDE to SATA adaptor in 2500?
I saw that it worked with IDE to CF card readers, but no info about this type of modification.
I found adaptors which need no drivers and are 44 pin.
IDE hdd's are so expensive in my country (around 100$ for 160 gb) so i'm looking for cheaper solution :)

I don't know if the adapter would fit in the space available? Also the drive tray in the 2500 has a 44 pin to some sort of 50 pin connector in the back of it so you would have two adapters in the line.

Might be perfectly reliable, might be a bit glitchy, wouldn't cost a lot to try though. Look for a 2.5 SATA to IDE adapter.

And I don't think a SATA to "some sort of 50 pin" adapter exists. I think it's a 50 pin IDE connector as used on CD Rom drives and laptops etc.

Well well well, check this out:

Although it wont fit in the tray I guess.

Thanks for reply. Althought i've found another and much smaller adaptor:

with dimensons : 69x14x15 it could be a problem to mount things right.
But if it fits, it will work.
I will order it and give info

EDIT:
After checking all the dimension it would not fit. PCB is 4mm wider than hdd socket.

Thanks for the info, peace.
