in this thread:
a bunch of
biting-the-hand-that-feeds,
wanting-their-cake-and-eating-it-too,
spoiled brats

seriously - if yall dont want the new os that comes with the screen, forget about it and move on. or continue whining about it. your choice.

its like, jj bought yall a pony for your birthday, now he's promising a new kitten, and all yall can say is 'i want the kitten that's riding a pony, too!'.

seriously i cant believe how immature yall are reacting to this amazing development.

props mike and jj.

i aint mad at cha, but there is enough crybaby-ness in the ren forum and now its coming to jj too, on the eve of the greatest advancement mpcs have seen yet?! is this a conspiracy?!

end rant ... i still <3 yall

basic principle is closed mouths dont get fed...if you're happy with what you get that's on your partna...JJOS would not be where it is today if it wasnt for users providing feedback and requests.

i totally feel you on that and thought you might take it personally having chimed in immediately after your post. to clarify - i am talking about ~30 pages this thread has turned into where most of what i read is bitching. not trying to single anybody out, you included.

having said that - it seems like a lack of faith in jj / mpcstuff that is happening here. like yea right, all these pseudo-scientist forum cats think they are somehow making a contribution with the bitching? like JJ hasn't thought of all of this already? dude is obviously smart as shit - has a sincere devotion to the product - but i see a lot of hate getting flung his way and just thought it was bratty.

that's all...seems a little respect / faith is in order but oh wait im at mpc-forums.com.

i took the day off and i'm testing til failure.....
a bunch of the bugs i reported earlier are gone already.
progress is good.

I'm with you Deck.
every time I sit down to use OS2xl I'm inspired and thankful to have functions that support my ideas. I remember when I first bought the first incarnation of JJ OS. I bought it mainly for mtc sync and was rewarded with so much more. Since then it's made leaps and bounds and has developed to make the 1k and 2.5k my no brainer weapon of choice. There is nothing in JJ's history that makes me think this new endeavor will fail or remain a crippled version of what I currently have. Folks here just need to chill, sit tight & recognize that Rome was not built in a day...

Same here.

It just doesn't make sense for me (atleast at this point in OS2XL and given the current state of the new screen's OS) to pay almost $200 for a pretty screen that comes with a limited OS. I've paid for all the versions of the JJ OS, I've submitted a bunch of feature requests, participated in the OS discussions and found a countless amount of bugs over the years to help get OS2XL to where it's at today (it's damn near perfect, I love it); I can't see myself paying to go back to square one and start over again with bug fixes, feature requests, etc., etc...

The whole reason why I copped an MPC in the first place was to make music, not to hunt for bugs and request features. It was cool (and kinda fun) the first time around because it was either that or use Akai's OS which was very limited. From the start even the free JJ OS was better than Akai's OS so it was all good to be feature requesting and looking for bugs but now we're talking about making music with OS2XL or going back to a limited OS that will "EVENTUALLY" catch up to OS2XL and "MAYBE" one day be better than OS2XL.

I need most of the features that are in OS2XL so that I can work the way I like to work when I create music, I can't just go back to a limited OS just for the hell of it and throw off my workflow; workflow is the number one most important thing for me when considering what hardware or OS to work with. The idea of "you can still use OS2XL on the new screen, you'll just be using half the screen, so it's ok to still upgrade" is wack imo. In that case I'll just save my money and check in from time to time on the developement of the new OS until it's up to par (or pretty close) with OS2XL and maybe then I'll pay and upgrade, but I need to keep making music. Paying and waiting months (maybe even more) to get features back that you already paid for and have in OS2XL sounds crazy to me.

I guess my first request for the new bigscreen OS would be to release it in a near complete state, until then keep working on it. You already know what features we want, OS2XL pretty much sums them up, there's no need to request them one by one all over again. The bigger screen is a great idea, don't get me wrong, but releasing the OS this incomplete with no kind of ETA as to when all the features will return (that's IF they all return) is kinda shaky even if the new OS and screen were free.

IMHO, and I'm not trying to sound like a dick, I love what JJ's done for us and our MPC's so don't get it twisted BUT the bottom line for me is this, if we are making music we need an OS that is as complete as possible, if we enjoy hunting for bugs and requesting features that were already implemented in past OS' then starting from scratch will be fun, it just depends on what we are trying to do. It's distracting having to do both but thankfully since JJ created OS2XL (and previous versions) we don't need to.

Yes this is all true. I know everyone is saying wait give JJ a chance but who here have time to stop there production flow to go back and start over. I dont have time to make music like I use to so going back to square one. and getting updates maybe 2wice a month untile 2 years later we finally caught up to the current OS with a few minor additions is crazy. Why develope a screen that not for the current OS.. once of the most perplexing ideas in a long time. looks like JJ is looking for lighting in the barrel again. Keep it up and Akai will catch up and surpase JJ ideas with Ren...

i've made nearly 3 albums while simultaneously bug squashing and FRs.
a product where you can't make FRs or report bugs is a dead product.

speculating on the fundamentals of OS design is best left to those with programming experience, but of course objective opinions/FRs are taken into consideration.

fact - i made a case for AMP ADSR a couple of days ago, and the version which i'm currently testing has AMP ADSR.

otherwise, os128xl operates in practically the exact same way as os2xl so far. it has some extra stuff, it has some missing stuff...and i'm doing my best to help it become the best os yet.

Nym good to hear you putting in the time with the Beta version.. my gripe is keep what we currently have and add the features to go with the current OS with the larger screen.. I understand code my professional side is more application testing and back end corporate build.. maybe someone should look into an upgrade mobo with a faster processor.... then add JJ cool ideas... I beleive Akai Ren will wipe away all the ideas JJ had and will be a forgotten OS...

but i wouldn't buy it until its up to par with os2xl

that's just hustling backwards
