Should I get the Mpc 60II or the Mpc 1000

I have a big decision to make , the Mpc 60 or the 1k and not much time. I would like to chop samples on the Mpc and I have a record player and that's all I would like to use

On a basic level do you want old school crunchy sound with an equally old school (yet still viable) interface. Or would you prefer modern conveniences but on a machine that basically has no character to it's sound. Modern MPC's don't sound bad by any means but they output essentially what you put in them. 60's and 3000's along with the SP1200 are basically what classic hip hop sound like, certainly in the realm of drums but samples as well.

Are you moving on to other MPCs, because you couldn't figure out MPC-500?

Yeah maybe wait on diving into a 60. Still if the OP kept the 500 and learns to sample on that with no waveform view, he'll be ready for most any sampler.

Yeah no I just got a good deal do I decided to trade for the 1k, but I couldnt really get the hang of the Mpc 500 so decided to take the 1k so I wouldn't have to trade or buy later

They all sample the same way. But the 1000 is a great choice.

For sample and play on the fly, you should look into the SP series, the only shitful thing about them is that timestretch is garbled samples and no pitch tuning. They don't make fun samplers like they used to back in the '90s, something is always missing to **** up your flow.

Yeah I started with the mpd 32 and just didnt like the feel of it

Unless you already have other gear you could use to make beats and really looking for that 12bit sound and/or are a collector, I would say save yourself the hassle and take the 1000.

If you had problems using the 500, the 60 will give you headaches as well. Small screen, no wave editing. And not even talking about maintaining a 20 year old machine.

That's what I was thinking but thanks for the final push towards the 1k. I just find the wave form editing far easier then how ever you do it on the 500
