I'm looking for a vst audio editor

Hey forum fam,
I hope you can help me with this one. I'm looking for an audio editor (win xp) but not a standalone but a VST.
ATM I experiment with a vst host which is loaded with a software sampleplayer and controlled with the MPC (2000) as sequencer. Now I want to be able to record audio from the IN of my audio interface without switching between software.
I found the Voxengo Recorder http://www.voxengo.com/product/recorder/
which comes near to what I want but doesn't have any editing. I want to be able to record and trim (destructive edit) the sample and then save it. I also searched on KVR but didn't find the right tool.
Any recommendations?? Freeware would be great

Are you just using a basic VST stack host like Savihost or V-Stack?

I can't think of any editor that loads as a VST itself, just ones that will host other VST's.

It would be a "duct-tape" type solution but maybe a copy of Live Lite and then define your audio editor of choice in Live's preferences. Then after the wave is recorded to Live you can click the launch editor button on Live's lower waveform view and it will load the wav in Awave, Wavesaur, Recycle. Sound Forge and so on.

If this workaround appeals to you and you don't have Live I have a couple 5 and 6 Lite unactivated serials (those freebies from MIDI controller boxes) which I believe they will upgrade to Live Lite 8 if they are registered.

but I found a solution that is more or less ok for me.

I use the "VST host" (the big brother of savihost).
And I use shortciruit as sampler (sampleplayer).
shortcircuit can't sample and is full non-destructive.
so I needed a recording and destructive editing solution.

For recording I use the mentioned voxengo recorder plugIn and save the file as wav.

For destructive editing I use the Imageline plugIn SliceX (which was included on a magazin CD a few moths ago). This is very practical. I can simply select a part of the recorded wave and drag & drop it over to the shortcircuit plugin. After I dragged all the parts I want over to shortcircuit I delete the once recorded wavefile.
Works great so far and I dont have to switch software and don't have to deal with ASIO driver problems (because of different software want to communicate with the ASIO) but it would be perfect if I use a second display so one display shows the sampler and the other shows slicex and/or the routing in VST host.

I notice it every time you describe your workflows. I always seem to luck out and have a multi-client ASIO driver so I don't have the risk of no audio output unless I launch a third program which is never necessary. I remember that when I used ASIO4All I think it ran the emulated ASIO for the audio app/DAW and then juggled a WDM for iTunes or whatever.
