Yes you can, the older OS versions will simply occupy only one half of the screen.

I read this on MPC Stuff yesterday.

You make good points, but I'd just like to point out that there's no such thing as an objective preference... :hmmm:

i'm willing to take a 'wait and see' approach to this. i have to admit i find it worrying that so many crucial features got axed from the initial 128xl version, but if JJ manages to add those functions back piece by piece (or come up with NEW functions that are even better to replace them), then it's all good.

i REALLY want to get one of these new screens, so i'm rooting for JJ to pull thru with the improvements. i'm definitely not going to pull the trigger on a screen purchase until the OS is up to par, however.

I like to hear some words about how the display is attached and if its still a good idea to transport a 1k in a backpack or better not,
or if its an absolute nogo to put a 1k with big display into a backpack.
or would it be deattachable ?
it´s a main point to me.
the nice thing on the 1k is its transportability

video looks cool, much better view on sample editing it seems.
thats a real point too

Yeah that's a big one for me too. I'd only get a big screen if the feature set was substantially better, and even then Id be buying for the features and not the screen size (although I can see why some features depend on the screen - like the 10 track display).
The compactness of the unit is one of the things that akai did get really right.

definitely. in using this 25k, i appreciate the size of the 1k that much more. and the 1k data wheel.

even then Id be buying for the features and not the screen size

same. the screen size is deluxe. headroom.

yeah there is - 3 modes of thought that are subjective, objective and the objective subjective. It would take a long time to explain, as you would have to be up with the last few hundred years of philosophy, and knowing the classics helps to. If you really wanna know.....
start here with the basics
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Being
then brush up on this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Existentialism
along the way we had things like this in the last century,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eclipse_of ... Horkheimer)
and more recently, which is what im talking about is
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre_Bourdieu
We have moved past the classic idea of duality.

Oh great you studied philosophy in college, doesn't mean you can be a pedantic ****.

I've read lots of Bourdieu and other philosophers, I quite like the logic of practice, but appealing to objectivity in matters of preference is not a trancendance of duality.

I don't like the bigger screen either.

Come off it mate,

No I didnt study it actually, just well read and old. I miss typed it, i meant to say that we had moved past a certain models, not the duality itself. otherwise
