Midisport Uno, MPC 2000XL and Propellerhead Reason/Record (M

I have an issue syncing the MPC 2000XL to Propellerhead Record/Reason.

I know the Midisport has had some issues working with OSX 10.7 and I have downloaded their beta driver and installed. I can use the MPC to trigger sounds from Reason (Kong) but if I want to sync them together, no matter what way I try it doesn't work. I followed the directions in another post on mpc-forums with no luck.

I used to have a 2500 and it synced to Logic fine. I don't know whats up as it's kind of annoying that it triggers sounds but won't slave to Reason/Record or Reason/Record to MPC.

Anyone else have this issue? Any fixes?

It can't slave to Reason. Reason doesn't send MIDI out at all. Make the MPC the master. The pads will work as you found just having the MIDI cabling attached and active. But everything else you want to do requires proper syncing.

Really? So this is only with the 2000xl? Worked with my 2500. Record/Reason has a sync option for internal or midi clock. I would've figured Reason could be the master. If thats the case, I'm gonna go back to the 2500.

No, it's not a question of different MPC's being different in this situation. It's just a limitation in Reason's design that's been there since version 1.0. An MPC's MIDI clock is going to be better than even the best computer's MIDI clock anyway (25 year old Atari ST's aside), so it's not like it's that bad a thing.

You just can't have the MIDI you program in Reason sent to sounds in the MPC like you could in any other DAW. But you can fully control all Reason devices with any MPC with the benefit of the MPC's tighter clock.

I still don't follow. I used to be able to create my beat (drums and samples) in the MPC and then sync to record/reason to track them there. I would use MIDI sync the tracks in on time so I wouldn't have to manually line them up in the DAW because I only have 2 inputs in.

If I only wanted to use MIDI as a syncing method to record my outs into record/reason, I used to be able to do this with the 2500, not with the 2000xl.

Yes to all of that. I am just pointing out that the MPC has to be the master and that Reason won't be able to sequence the sounds in the MPC, but it seems you don't need that anyway. But again everything you want to do is just as possible on a 2000XL.
