Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Yo! New to forum and I hope you guys can help.
2000xl with 1.20 installed
Installed card reader from mpc stuff
Cannot get mpc to boot up with reader installed. All LEDs come on and I've tried every combination of cables and checked master on reader.

What I want to know is will the mpc not boot up if it is the wrong type of card?

I've read that all LEDs on means wrong side IDE cable connected but I've tried switching them around and have been unsuccessful in having the mpc boot up. Would it not boot up if the cable was faulty?

Thanks

I saw the exact same problem with more than 1 of those card readers that MPCstuff sell, it happened to my friend too and I tried to help him and nothing, MPCStuff said they never had the same problem before but that's not true, I saw the exact same post several times here in the forum...
Try to unscrew the reader from your MPC and boot it up again... should work... I noticed that with my friends MPC

Yes when I unplug the IDE cable from the MPC, the machine boots up fine. But when the IDE from the reader is plugged it I get ALL LEDS ON and it does not boot up.

I am having the exact same problem as this guy:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=155106

and I received the grommets in the mail and they did not help.
If I can't get this to work I think I am going to sell my XL and save up for a 1000. My brother has one and it seems great but the build on the 2000xl is so great, its a tank and I feel I can really jam on it better than the 1000.

Are any of the pins bent inside the card reader?

Are you plugged into the correct location on the motherboard? Make sure you are not plugged into the IB-M208P spot.

Can you take pictures of your setup especially how the card reader is plugged into the motherboard?
