DAW is a Sampler and and mpc can be a DAW

Like I always say this isn't for advanced users just for beginners like myself


It has been a minute since I have back here in the 4k forum. Just a insight I been working on using my 4k sampler and sequencer in the same fashion as my main daw logic. The key is tempoing, editing, effecting resampling the sounds piece by piece and then sequencing the parts. The inspiration came from getting more into computer music based tips and studying old dance studios of 20 yrs ago where the sampler was used as the audio files, and regions and the Amiga computers were the seqencer tracks.

The 4k graphic editor in seq editor provides pretty much the same automation possibilities as a standard daw give or take except we have resample for mixing and layering. Just a small paradigm shift I kind of sharing will you all that may be novices.

A lot of tips from I use to think we're just for daws I now do in my 4k.

Here is a side chaining without compression. I can use the qlink sequence or the seq editor graphic editor to get similar results.

Your midi tracks are tracks and the samples or the audio regions you can draw in your pitch changes as automation in your graphic editor in the mpc. Remember we have to organize the samples first by resampling which will help a lot.

Good stuff. I agree with you that the 4000 is a DAW. So many good products were made 2000-2004. Companies still had R&D money going into physical products that ran on software and not just software. Those products from that period are going to be coveted because generationally that was the time when older established music engineers and software engineers were brought together. Going forward we will have many software engineers that would have never used older hardware.

PS you should make a video everytime you learn something new, or if you create a great sound. We need more mpc4000 videos on youtube.

Thanks for the reply the video making is a work in progress. The first and the last one I made was off a iPhone but I will get there. However a lot of great tutorials on YouTube are made for and aimed at DAW users and I realize a lot of the tips and tricks could be done in the 4k along with the automation.

A little vocal sample trick you can do in the 4k just follow the directions.

A little different from my thread title but a way to use your pad control on the qlink knobs same as this drum machine when you program your beats in the 4k.
