mpc 3000 or maschine

hey guys,

just sold my mpc 60II today and got a new offer to either cop a mpc 3000 for 750 or maschine for 425 need some feedback . i like both machines but i need that thump i get in my drums from the 60II

It's cheaper, newer technology and it's already tried & proven by many to be a powerhouse.

MPC 3000 workflow is completely different than mascshine....if you get a 3k, get ready to spend WAY more time making a beat(at least starting out). If that's your thing, then that's fine, but if you are wanting a fast and easy workflow the 3k might not be your thing. The ren would be a closer comparison to the maschine.

i would say go with maschine, u might not get that thump right away like in the 3000, but with all the plug-ins and effects you will, plus u can emulate the old gear.. ive got maschine, but i still look at 3000's on CL like a few times a week, i still want one, but the fact is shits old new shit is pretty much on par.. just my thoughts on it..

Where are you comming from?

If you did most of you work with the the mpc60 and a rig of hardware FX I would say cop the 3000.

If you already have integrated software in your workflow I might suggest you to go for mashine if you are depending more on software.

I say get that 3000 just to clean it up if need be and sell it for a grand. That said I am a Maschine user and while it obviously differs from an MPC in some key areas it is a very capable package, especially if you have lots of samples on a computer already.

I would get something real dope for my workflow. Look at all of your options. Did you felt Maschine's pads? They suck but its a powerful software. 3000 is dope if you're a dedicated tech geek to fix the nuances that appear from time to time. Akai is a bunch of fags anyway, get the MicroSampler.

i think maschines pads are good, way better then my 1000's and wayyyy better then the mpd line outta the box, ive got mikro though, not sure if these pads are better then the bigger maschine or not. my mpc500 with the thick 1000 pads cut down are the best! i do love my fat padded mpd32's pads slightly better than maschine. but their pads are on par. i had a friend who uses 2 sp's and a 2500 when he came over and banged on maschines pads he told me "these are the best pads i have ever felt"

Mashines pads are not like real pads,pads.There like silicon sensors that you tap.Very sensitive yes,effective yes,Like mpc drum pds?no........a bit effeminate (no homo guys)I prefer the big rubbery things by akai meself.Gives me a fealing of confidence.Id get that 3000 as its as cheap as a cheap mpc3000.Bargain.

^ what is maschine's pad sensor sensitivity calibration like? what are all the parameters for adjustment?

people are underinformed about sensors, not their fault but it's the truth
FSRs are all the same, it's all about the calibration software involved.

ended up copping maschine but install dvd wont work on my macbook pro. so i looks like i gotta wait til monday for them to send me an iso file of the install disk . A 3000 is really lookin good right about now.

Maschine's pads are stunning for expressive playing. That's half the problem though... I tend to just switch it on and jam with the Abbey Road kits for an hour, then switch it off. :oops:
