Midi Handshake With Evolver Locks Up MPC

I have my MPC 1000 hooked up to a DSI Evolver in a midi handshake. Sometimes the Evolver as well as the MPC will lock up together. I'm lost to know which setting would prevent this from happening. If I restart the Evolver, everything typically goes back to normal. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what can I do? Thanks.

For further reference, I made a Midi track recording a bass line sent out to the Evolver. I am adjusting different parameters on the Evolver and then the Evolver locks up. In this case, all the numbers on the digital display of the the Evolver start changing rapidly.

I may have just solved my own issue. There is this function on the Evolver called "Poly Chain" which was turned on. I believe this is used for hooking up multiple DSI synths. Anyway, I'm pretty sure that is taken care of for now.

Make sure the "Soft thru" function on the MPC is off when you are sending midi from the Evolver to the MPC or you'll get a midi loop which will cause the same problem. You have t do this since the Evolver doesn't have a "local off" mode.
