This is so noobish it's embarrising, but I've never had this happen before. I have a MPC5k and a Novation X-Station. I've got everything hooked up right (mpc out to xstation in, xtation out to mpc in). I can play the mpc/my other sound modules with the keyboard through the mpc. But, when I put the MPCs sequencer on the channel for the Xstation so I can sequence the Xstation itself(D, if it matters), and play either the keyboard or the pads, the MPC freezes and I have to do a hard reset. What am I doing wrong?

More than likely, it's a 5k issue. But before we draw that conclusion, maybe check some of your midi sync parameters on the 5k and list what you have selected for sync options.

So, when I hit Shift+Pad 8 (Midi/Sync), Ihave active Track Rcieve Cannel - All; Soft Thru - As Track; Midi Program Change - Track; Pad to Internal Sounds - ON.

On the Sequencer window, it freezes whether I have my type as DRUM or MIDI.

I can't think of anything else that would be relevant, is there anything else you need to know?

Yeah man, you only need one MIDI cable. One is the master and one is the slave, but here you have 2 MIDI cables connected and the devices are fighting about who's the master causing MIDI loop chaos. If you want to trigger sounds from the MPC from the keyboard, then the MPC is the slave (Cable going MIDI IN on MPC) but if you want the MPC to trigger sounds from the keyboard then the Keyboard is the slave (Cable going MIDI IN on the keyboard).

Also if you have multiple devices, the MPC5000 has a MIDI THRU, and if it doesn't then go to the MIDI menu on the 5000 and convert one of the MIDI plug-ins to "SOFT MIDI THRU".

Ok, that's kinda what I was thinking. So then is there any way that I could play the keys on the Xstation, sequence what I play on the MPC, and have it go back to the XStation when I play my sequences?
