Then why buy the Fly app at all. Outside of the MPC2000 skin it's just freeware.
This why I don't see Numark separating the two.

They've already made it clear it will be sold as a standalone app and as a module in Retronyms Tabletop app. If you want to pay $300 to have the controller for it or not.

The only question is will the standalone app allow other options for Core MIDI control. Retronyms already told me that the Tabletop module will not be controllable by anything but the Fly hardware. I'm waiting to see if Akai will impose the same limitation on the standalone app.

I got that from the video too but what's being said in the videos is not etched in stone as we've seen. I agree there has to be some type of limitation place on the Numark version if the controller is going to sell.

I hear you. But given how the whole the App market is, they could sell a lot more apps and close the financial gap through quantity of sales if every iOS user has access. Plus it would earn a company who hasn't always been on the same page as it's customers some much needed goodwill.

Obviously I just want to pony up the $10 or whatever and add it to the 200 other music apps I have. I'm already $1700 deep in this iPad thing so $300 is a bit steep for the HW for me personally. It will work with all other Core MIDI apps which does make it a better look if you'll break that much bread.

I'm gonna rock the FLY during company meetings. **** the fiscal year in review, I'm getting productive.

i was thinking along a similar line. the Fly says you can export to computer but can you export to the computer to pull up the project in the Ren/Studio to continue working beyond the 4 track Fly limitation.

Doesn't the fly KILL they whole reason the ipad was made? To CHANGE the way we make music/do things... A touchscreen with beatmaker 2/nanostudio and multitrack (16 tracks) destroys anything they fly is trying to accomplish. You already have a MPC w/ more functions than the 4K at your finger tips... I see the fly as a waste of hardware... I'm still banging out this way until the renaissance drops and I'm still keeping my ipad and using beatmaker 2/nanostudio as a sound module over midi.

I'm done buying ipad hardware that ends up only working with a specific version. It feels like Apple changes things (like the direction of the 30-pin connector) just to help spur the 3rd party add-on market.

I've been waiting for 3 months for Alesis to put out an iodock adapter for the ipad 3 all because of a 2 milimeter difference in the location of the connector on the ipad 3. It's freaking ridiculous.

Weird... cuz I'm using the ipad 3 and I don't have ANY problems getting it to function in the io dock. If you have the ipad 2 adapter on TAKE IT OFF.... It def wont fit with the ipad 2 adapter attached. Once I took it off the ipad 3 slid right in with no problem and works perfectly.... Holla back cuz I'm curious... actually I've read on nanostudio's forums that MOST people had problem but a couple got it to work.... ?able

I went from the original ipad to the ipad 3, so never used the ipad 2 connector. I always felt the 30-pin connector on the dock was a little sketchy even with the first ipad. Mine just never fit very well. So when I bought the ipad 3, I checked around and found out that you can damage your ipad 3 if you try to use it with the current io dock.
