Does anyone use a bass multi-effects unit?

I'm a bass newb but I want to feed it through some effects and sample the results. Anyone got any recommendations?

I haven't got the time, patience, money or inclination to start buying separate stomp boxes, so I'm thinking along the lines of an all in one unit.

This sort of thing...




Essentially something that can completely transform the sound (the more mental the better). Accuracy of modelling isn't that important for my needs.

I used to have a Zoom B2, it's cheap and quite good. But if you only want to sample and not play live, i think you will have more control and a better sound if you use VST's.

There are bass versions of GT-6,8 & 10.

I use my GT-Pro with bass when playing into MPC.
It does the trick.
So maybe you could look for second hand GT-8?
Then sell it, if it doesn'f fit in to your purposes.

For bass i use mainly filters, EQ, some delays and choruses.
But i've hooked GT-Pro with Line6 Filter Pro.
Love those crazy bleeps and bloops when tempo synced with MPC.

I think I'm gonna roll with hardware with this one. I can always patch up any inconsistencies later on in the process with plugins.

How well does a guitar effects unit transfer to bass? The GT-100 looks pretty nice...

Very well. I'm not using any amp modelling when playing with bass.
Just EQ and compressor.
When playing melodies I use lots of delay, reverb, filters and modulation.
Sounds very nice and deep.

I'm looking at the Pod HD500 at the minute. I'm liking all the connections on the back... It opens it up for feeding all sorts of stuff through it.

guitar effects processors work fine with a bass.

u can actually make a guitar sound exactly like a bass on those

boss gt 8b is great, the 10b is not as good but is more up to date. both will make you happy.

The Pod software editor looks really intuitive, so at the minute I'm heading in that direction.

Everything is subject to change though.

Routing possibilities in Pod HD500 are way more better than in GT-Pro.
Line6 offers more capabilities (fx-wise) to produce really weird sounds, but i really hate the amp modelings.

GT-Pro has also nice editor.

i love the Moog Moogerfooger MF-101 low pass filter. maybe not multi enough for this thread.

Thanks for the info mate... It looks like I've just snagged the Pod so I should have enough to get going with.
