Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Not everyone is so excited about it :) I don't use the 8out regular but that is just because I usually use the 2000 as sequencer only. But there are people who said that the 8outs doesn't "bump" as the stereo outs does. I never did a A/B comparison tho so I can't tell you first hand.

Never had the 8outs for my 2kxl.

Haha yeah I know I'm just pumped up with this shit :D

Seriously tho I never thought before that I'd need them but what got me thinking was that I also just got hold of a 16channel mixer & my first actual hardware compressors and i realised that to be able to put them to good use I actually need all of those outputs and so I just had to get them. i've only scratched the surface with the 8-outs but they really do change things up in a lot of ways.
Then again if you do all of your mixing and whanot on the computer then it's a different thing I guess.. And I don't have anything MIDIed up so all the sounds are coming out from the mpc

I'm trying to go the hardware route, you know quality over quantity. Get something, learn to work with it first and then see what else you need.

I think of it (having hardware over plug-ins) like having instruments: I don't need all of the drum kits in the world, just one good kit that works for me is enough. Then you can always get another snare to change things up etc

And I don't know about the bump not being there dude... imagine a freeway with two lanes. then imagine a freeway with eight lanes. now guess which one got more oomph going on at the same time?

You can also push effects through the 8 outs, alot of people miss that info in the manual. open windo in the mixer screen is your friend. That is IF you have the EB16 fx board. When I first bought my 2kxl I chose the eb16 over the 8 outs, glad I did. But people w/ 8outs said the same thing but in reverse, lol.

Yeah I don't have the fx-board... Didn't even consider getting that one haha :D
Nice eq on the mixer, a couple of outboard eqs, reverbs, compressors etc do the job

What works well for someone might not work for the other dude, that's how it goes. And it's only a positive thing, there'd be no point in everyone using the same gear. Or liking the same food and the same women and whatever you have blah blah

Mr Obvious says good night to everyone!

So many people have the same model mpc yet feed it different sounds. There's a point.

what I meant was that some people use the fx board while others choose to use the 8-outs and outboard effects. Some people do all of that stuff on the computer and some people just make lo-fi mono beats to record to cassette tapes, some people never use samples and some people only use samples, while some people do both.... etc etc

I was just talking about in general that it's a good thing that there is diversity in the way that people like to make music. Kinda like I was always into italian food but my friend was into cooking a lot of asian stuff, so we both brought something different to the table and got something new from the situation... nahmean?

I like how you think.

Planning on buying the 8 outs soon here as I want to have it go to a multitrack mixer to send audio to ableton so I can mix down my tracks using all the eq/compressor plugins you can find online.

Yes, you rather use "the best" free plugins instead of ALL :)

I recommend

The free plugins from voxengo
Variety Of Sound plugins
the fish filets plugins
cockos reaplug plugins
SIR reverb

thats mroe than enough to make you happy most of the times
