Just installed my password for the MPC 2500 JJOSXL 3.20. After 1 minute of use I found either a bug or a limitation of the JJOS.

1. Load a drum kit
2. Press Rec + Play Start
3. Press F1[T.C.]

Results - My MPC 2500 is taken out of Recording; this is unexpected

Expected - While recording, pressing F1[T.C.] should allow you to change the timing correct settings and remain in record/overdub record mode.

nah you just doing the wrong way Jah. What you do instead is hold down TAP button then select F1 - F6 for you choice of T.C.
This will not stop recording like the way you do it. I only ever hit F1 when stopped for the offline T.C. I never choose the T.C. by the F1 key in record or play mode. try and you will see.
Its much better than mucking round with screen and means you can jump between say 1/8 to 1/32 with out stepping through the other T.C.s If you think about it that is way better...... you know cos you only use the T.C. you want not others. If you make music you would appreciate that a huge amount. And also you can also change swing & shuffle in the grid edit as well. I guess you knew that, but just in case you did not notice that, its handy to.
Give it time, and when you get with the program you will get it.
Because in case you did not notice, you can record and switch T.C.s up real good this way, that is instead of stepping through all of the other T.C.s. its like who the hell does that while recording lol. and why would you when recording it wont work as it will be using the T.C.s you dont want. :hmmm: . We would not be having this convo if you made dub step lol, you would be loving it. and skipping from 1/16 and 1/8(3) like no tomorrow. with out stopping the recording. i can do it two handed. Its fun instant dub step and other genres, I hold down tap tempo, and same hand hits F keys for changes of TC while other hand holds pads for MIDI note to synths - easy as. Also to note is the ability to toggle that mode on so that all F keys stay as different TCs instead of normal. giving you a free hand to go really crazy. Just hit shift and Tap tempo for that mode.

Jah - re read my post.
JAH wrote:I think it is quite clear that pressing T.C. button should not stop the sequencer from recording as it serves no useful purpose. It only hinders workflow.
What it is, is that you just can not adapt your workflow to a better one because your are like a dinosaur here. Adapt or die is the adage, thats why i say dinosaur. That and you dont read my post.
if you try what i say (see my post above) you will know it is a better way and you can easily do your example with out the recording mode stopping. To turn off TC just hit the F key that is lit. simple. so
JAH wrote:All of this should be possible without taking the MPC out of record/overdub. This is not possible with this current version of the JJOS.
So so very wrong here JAh sorry mate. Any one here will second me on that to. you just didnt read my post. You did not try what i said either.
JAH wrote:it makes sense for it to perform the way I suggest here. Even the MPC 5000 and Maschine performs this way...and hopefully the Ren as well....the Tempest may do the same also.

So in fact you are trying to better an old out dated, not as useful work flow then
great. good call. /sarcasm as if you didnt know. And if you read my post adapted your workflow you would find you do not care about it because you have a more versatile instant version with less limitations and works but choose tohang on to out dated ideas that do not work as well and that are more limited?
Did you even try it? well no it seems you did not even read my post :fku:
I mean if you did, you would agreeing about this or asking or suggesting something. I mean come on, its not a bug, its just you have not gotten to terms with a new workflow. In other words you can not adapt. Or is it learn?
Try and put some bloody time into it instead. Learn and adapt to it, then make a considered contribution that has some merit and makes us agree/disagree. Not nit picking every thing you dont like, thats not constructive, thats just talking crap and no real thought about it. So try and up your game and impress me with something that actually helps my work flow Jah.
I say the same to all the other people here to. see previous posts
this is what i get out of it... i mean by your first post and your reply.. ok it is IMHO but...
So you think it is different, and you can not obviously be bothered to learn it or adapt, (or read my post) but make out that peoples time should be used to make it do something that way for you? because you are too lazy to learn or can not adapt to it??? An old way that is not as good?? Only cos other stuff does it and you dont like to use the other, better way because you would have to learn it, and then admit that it is better and use it in your work flow. I told you its a better, way better. But you just ignore it hey, how rude are you. This post should be a reply after you tried it instead of you ignoring the workflow methodology I told you about and just make out you there is a way "it" should be.
does not impress me one little bit. it makes me question your motives, it aint about work flow! Is it about some thing else?
So please try it then whinge. ok i mean i spent the time telling you about it, at least you could do is do me the kindness of actually reading my posts and trying stuff.
other wise you aint doing nothing but wasting my time.
Gods i want this last 5 minutes of my life wasted back now.
So Jah. till you actually give me a discussion on work flow improvements that are, you know improvements because I am not impressed with your lack of understanding rudeness and general whakness. I mean its so not a big deal and you make out it is work flow wise. Wanna battle Jah, Bring it and we will see if the JJos is not up to these so called "MPC workflow standards" you espouse so loudly.
So your a joke mate till you actually contribute in a meaningful and considered way. Not just some crap about how its meant to be, and how it kills your work flow, what friggam work flow ? do you have one. did you load a loop pack and make out you rock hard there. hows that working out for ya. You know its you attitude and what you say that determines how I appraise you. So far you can see i have lost a lot of respect but you can earn it back by bring a meaningful idea.
What you shoul be doing is going through the old requests and bumping ones you like, not your boyfriends ones, but ones you like. you know like in a forum. :?
then after you get a *ahem work flow happening after you learn and adapt you will know better ideas. thats how it works. I do not mean compared to other machines here, i mean real considered ideas that actually improve. like invert phase in trim, or cycle the bank select with foot switch instead of just going to one bank and then not working. see thats two example that improve our work. Really if it was such an improvement then some one including me would so sked for it by now. Get real dude, and ..... Get with the program

denial?? is that why you ignore other method that is better??
and please explain how i can switch TCs with out stepping through the other TCs?? you cant, unlike the other method I showed you and you ignore. So its not that useful when you have your finger on a pad in note repeat. Using really big letters is not making it any more useful. So why waste time doing something like this? And is it an improvement? IMO no, it is not. it is a step backward.

yea you hold note repeat and you can choose with f1-f6 which TC option you want while recording... you can even lock it in by hitting note repeat+shift..

Just installed the original free JJOS 3.10. It works exactly as expected. Press F1 doesn't disable recording.

Everybody has their own workflow.

Jah wants to do it his way.

Thats why some people prefer a drum machine,
and some people prefer a DAW dongle.

The MPC (traditional) just isn't for you Jah.

And there's nothing wrong with that.

You'll be much happier using the Renaissance.
