Goodbye.

I bought that Gerhard Trede 48 (Points Of Vision) and also the 66 (Magic Colors) for 1 Euro each. Thrift store diggin = you don't always get what you search but still make better deals (as a buyer)

Your posts sound very frustrated IMO. You got very dope records but I would never give that much money to someone comin along like you here in this thread.

Yes you can't force me to buy your records but you also can't come here, tryin to sell records and tell people what to say and what not. You can't stop people from caalling it "rip off".
I can come to this thread as long as the mod let me and I can call your records dope or shit and I can call your selling methods rip off or good deal. Thats called freedom of speach ;)

good luck finding THAT buyer

First of all, I'm not frustrated at all. Whenever you put yourself out there like I'm doing, you have to expect naysayers, haters, people who don't like what you're doing, etc. I'm perfectly fine with that. But if you say I'm ripping people off, then I will at least respond to it. Maybe my response is not the most focused because I have a lot on my mind regarding this topic and really, I could write a book about it...plus my dad's in the hospital after almost dying, so my thoughts are not the clearest right now...but at least I get some of what I think out there.

Second, how exactly am I "coming across" in this thread? I was called out and I defended myself. You must be doing some projection of your own thoughts on me if you think I'm coming across as anything less than just a normal, sincere guy in this thread. All I was doing was trying to justify my thought process behind why I priced the records the way I did. That's all I'm doing.

And dude, I've been doing this for years, and have made thousands of dollars selling records. I'm not saying that to brag, I'm saying that to assure you, I will find THAT buyer :-D . It may take time, but I'm not giving records away for free in the mean time.

But whatever, you keep buying your records for a dollar and I'll keep selling high quality records for top dollar prices. We all win then.

So a few old sales on Popsike are supposed to be proof? If you think Popsike matters at all, you're kidding yourself. Popsike can sometimes be used as a reference but prices fluctuate so much in the time period from those last sales that it doesn't mean anything really. Plus you have to factor in other things. Maybe those auctions weren't publicized very well, so they sold cheap. Maybe the people who are really after those records didn't even know the auction was going on. Who knows. Point is, Popsike doesn't tell the whole story. Far, far from it actually.

Then you post a few CDs for sale. A CD reissue does not equal a rare original pressing. The only original pressing of the Carpi currently for sale is for sale on discogs for $100. I priced mine higher because again, I feel it's worth more than $100. You rarely ever see it for sale. And as far as I know there is not one single person selling the Marchetti LP anywhere online. Therefore I listed it for a high price.

Then you post a few other sellers with lower prices. Those don't really matter to me. Who's to say their prices are really what the records are worth? Just because they are cheaper than mine? I think they are underselling the value of the records, but that's just me. I value these records more than most people. I'd rather give the BBC Radiophonic record to a friend who would appreciate it than sell it for less than $30. For one, it's an amazing record. If that seller wants to sell his for dirt cheap, let him. I'm still going to sell mine for what I feel it is worth.

But anyway, if you want cheaper records, look around for them and buy them cheaper. My site will still exist even when all those cheap records have dried up, and will still be there for collectors who want great records and no hassles in purchasing them.

records are only worth what people are willing to pay for them at that particular time...... put those LPs up on ebay starting at 99cents and with no reserve... whatever the auctions end at is what they're worth. i know you don't see it that way, but that's how a record's value is really determined.

Crossings, I agree that records are worth what people are willing to pay at the time. So who's to say they won't be willing to pay my asking price? I disagree that the price in an auction setting determines anything solid. Like I said, there are too many factors in an auction setting to consider. Have you ever been to an auction for antiques or collectables? I have. And guess what? Sometimes you can get items for an absolute STEAL compared to their relative value outside of the auction (compared to prices they go for in a retail setting). But you know what else? Sometimes something that is perceived to be cheap goes for big bucks at auction. Why? Because someone was willing to pay more for the item and a bidding war started. Auctions are too unpredictable. I never base the value of things off what they sell for at auction. If I were in the record game to make a quick buck, then I'd consider auction prices more closely. But I'm not in this thing to make a quick buck. I'm in this to sell incredible records for prices I feel are fair based on their value and what they will probably be valued at in the future.

And really, there is NO surefire way to value something. Ever. In the history of capitalism/trade and barter/whatever. Value is perceived differently by different people. Just because a record sells at auction for $10, maybe it has sold in the past for $100 in a retail setting. So what's it's true value? There is no way to say. I only base my prices off my perceived value for what I'm selling. And I believe my prices are fair within those parameters.

KappNeffect - for $225 you will not only get an amazing record, musically, but you're also investing in something that will probably be double that price in 5 to 10 years, if not sooner. Like I mentioned before, I've been selling records for over 5 years. Within those 5 years alone, I have seen tons of records I sold 5 years ago, that are now selling for double what they sold for back then, if not more! So keep that in mind. These records are good investments.

But yeah, my prices are a little high, but I'm in no hurry to sell. I also expect to get offers for the records, and I will not refuse any reasonable offer.

Anyway, I'm not going to repeat myself a million times. I feel like I've made my case pretty clear, and if you disagree with me, we can have a discussion about it, but most of my points have been made by now.

Thanks to everyone who checked it out though!

:hmmm: I'm guessing the people that would be willing to pay that much for an album wouldn't be interested in selling it in 5-10 years unless they're dealers too. It's only a good investment if the intent is to flip it as opposed to keeping it.

FLUENT wrote:Hello crate diggers. I have a stash of about 100 rare, desirable library and foreign soundtrack records. If you don't know what library music is, it's entirely instrumental music with tons of potential for sampling, and also great for listening to on a rainy day. A lot of it is really amazing music.

You can view some of what I have for sale at my website, http://www.musicdellama.com. Feel free to take a look and email a list of any records you may be interested in.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

awesome records.... those are collectors prices..alot of people get cratedigging prices confused with collectors prices..a cratedigger finds the gems cheap..collectors arent cratediggers so they tend to pay higher for the record(as they should) because they dont do the footwork.

solid collection though.

Thanks.

If there's one thing that can be said about these albums, is that if you are into instrumental music, whether for just listening purposes, or you make beats from it, these albums are some of the most amazing for both those purposes. I'm amazed every day that I listen to some of these records and find incredible pieces of music on them. The musicians who put these types of albums together in the past were all extremely talented.

And again, if you don't like the prices, just submit an offer for anything you're interested in. Don't be afraid to submit an offer that you feel is fair...

not true brah. one is not neccesarily mutually exclusive of the other.

your 100 percent right..after reading it the way i typed it..i should clarify.

some collectors arent cratediggers..lol

what i meant is..ive met many record heads that dont cratedig..they wont go for missions and seek out the gems in the dusty sweaty fashion cratediggers do..they simply buy from someone who already has i.e. internet/retail record shops/record shows/dealers..etc..

my bad!! :smoker:

true that! there is a diffrence between digging for saples and collecting valuables.. bot can counteract with one another... like dave and buddy said..

Also: nobody has said a word about the condition of the records.. that can justify the price too. just as well as first pressing or reissue .. the label and also the country it was pressed in.
collectors will pay attention to those details... if your just lookin for samples you won't give a shit

(i usually don't give a shit... just looking for good music. if i really want a record I'll be willing to pay, if i got the dough..
othertimes I'll just scoop up a bunch of dirt cheap records and hope they at least have some hidden treasures inem.
