Hey, quick question about the ASR10 and CF Cards.

I recently purchased an ASR 10 (well, swapped my eps16 for it). Anyway, it's got a cf card reader built into where the floppy would be. All works fine with the 2gb card the previous owner was using.

My question is this - I want to transfer files (in efe format) from my pc to the cf card but when I insert the cf card the pc says it needs to be formatted. I'm guessing the card was formatted on the asr. I've got full version of Chicken sys translator too but can't figure it out. Is it the case that if the cf card were previously formatted on asr and not Chickensys (or pc in general) then it'll never be possible for pc to read it? As in - must it be formatted on pc in order for the pc to read it?

any help would be much appreciated y'all

Hey langer :-D , also just got an asr10 ... only reason I'd use chicken sys to format is if the cf card is over 2gb (asr10 won't format those) ... max is aparrently 8gb cards...

Your pc is supposed to say the card is unformatted .... ensoniq used their own type of file system... if translator is not reading the card, either you are doing something wrong ... or maybe it doesn't like that cf card... If you have another card try it out.. woudn't wait for step by step instructions...
good luck

ASR10 can format for "ASR10+Computer". Do that and then try the card inside EPSDisk or translator.

But this compatibility is why I stopped trying and went to triton a LONG while back. Still like the ASR10 but I wanted something easier for transfer.

The thing is, the card I'm currently trying to do this with already has a bunch of samples, os and waveboy fx on it. If I start anew and format a different card etc, I still need to somehow get all that shit onto it. Which I can't do unless I can make my pc read it. I think I'll hit up the guy who had the machine before me and see how he did it..
