Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By bigbricks Wed Nov 03, 2004 2:45 am
I using my Roland XP-60 with the 2000xl and a Zip 100 drive. I'm trying to send sounds from my keyboard to my MPC and save on the MPC Zip drive. I hooked midi in to the xp-60 to midi out to the mpc and midi out of the xp-60 to midi in on the mpc. I have my keyboard set to slave and the mpc as the master. I can get my keyboard sounds recorded to the mpc but once I save it and turn it off and start on a new day it doesnt play the sound correctly. I save as a midi file type 1 on the mpc. Someone please tell me that it's me and not AKAI.

Yeah, I'm a rookie who knows what you're not doing to achieve what it is you want to do but you didn't ask that did you.

The only request you made was:

Someone please tell me that it's me and not AKAI

So I'll answer your question again, since you did say please, it is you, not Akai.

Do a search on sys ex.

you got to save the sounds as .snd files and then you can load the sounds whenever you wanna use them.

As far as I understand from your story you sequence the sounds of your xp-60 on the 2kxl. The reason the sound don't play correct is because you did not program the nescessary program changes at the beginning of the midi tracks on the 2kxl. That way the 2kxl will play the sequence using the sound that corresponds by default to the given midi channel on your xp-60.
