whats up guys.
So im having some problems with my mpc. Right now it is nonfunctional. It will power up but nothing shows up onto the lcd screen. It had been shutting down for a while during the playback of a beat and wouldnt turn on right away. I would have to wait maybe 30 minutes before powering it up and something showing up on the lcd.

Prior to this the 'main' and 'bank A' button would randomly start to flicker like crazy and no sound would come out.

Ive tried taking out the ram and starting it up withouit but still nothing. Ive also taken off the cover to see if anything looks unusual or burnt out but nothing looks out of place.

Back in april i played a show and my mpc was dropped so i have a feeling that was the reason why this is happening.

and im not running jjos. Im running the manufacture version.

Any help or words would be much appreciated. Thanks ahead of time!

ok, you have a few choices to make. you can either:
(recommended) send it back to akai for repair (if bought new and still under warranty)
or send it out to mpcstuff.com and pay premium to get repaired
or try re-installing the os (quickest but might not change anything)

did you buy your mp new or used? if new, the original os should be on your CF card that came with it.

Best bet would be too open up the 1k and check for cracks, loose wires, components etc on the PCB's. Sounds like somethink is either loose or broken.

update:

I took apart my 1000 and checked for anything unusual. I'm no expert but everything looked fine. I tightened any loose ribbons I had and when I turned it on it held power for maybe 10 minutes which had been better be still wouldn't stay on. so now im back to square one.

I'm starting to think something could be wrong with the motherboard. that or blown capacitors.

anymore opinions?

Power supply ????
When something's broken inside such a box, it works or not.
But the power supply still a bit "analog" then something can happen when it get's hot.
Even when not in use, just sitting there power on it shut down by itself ?

If you can't find any obvious points where metal parts are shorting internally, it could be a cracked circuit board. That'll do it.

What happens is while its on, the LCD screen goes blank. Power is still on but there is no output of sound and I cant navigate through the MPC.

I checked it out again and i have no Blown capacitors

Back at this again!

So ive hit up a few spots here in LA that can maybe fix my MPC but their gonna rape my wallet and for the price id have to pay i can just buy another MPC.
NOT WORTH IT

After all this i think my LCD might just be bad.

I was talking with a friend and he said his LCD had been buggin out on him also.
Saying it would flicker from time to time and every now and then there would be a solid black line running across the screen.

Would replacing just the LCD do the trick or is there something else that would lead to this?

You may have more way more problems than just an LCD. I don't think replacing an LCD will fix all your problems.
