haha i just realized that you can control your MPC remotely over the internet pretty easily using a webcam, jjos2xl button mode, a keyboard to midi plugin, Skype, and LogMeIn, RealVNC, or Teamviewer

wouldn't be too much fun and wouldn't allow realtime pad performance, but you could grid and step edit away.

nice one Nym. Yeah need cam on screen to see what ya doing. Did you consider that you could do a set remotely then. OR jam with some one to lol, over skype. Even better, I want to see you (or not see you in this case) perform a set remotely live. Do a gig and not turn up lol, empty stage and all. Yeah you will have to go and set it up but maybe you could skype in later after going home to see the set.
Can you still access the USB mode as well? Meaning you could run some ones MPC and dump your sounds and sequences remotely? that would mean teleconference training capabilities on the MPC :-D :smoker:

see I'm good with the coding and hacking that's obviously available (like making an analog tape delay), but I'd never come up with random stuff like this...

FSOL were the first band to do "a world tour without ever leaving the studio", but that was via ISDN and not a crazy remote control.

Nice one, Nym!

On the subject of MPC remote control over internet, I found a relatively easy way to wirelessly control the mpc with TouchOSC (ipad or android) via Reaper. It goes something like this:

Setup TouchOSC and reaper per these instructions:
https://seangoresht.com/index.php/tutorials/item/how-to-set-up-touchosc-and-reaper

Then download the TouchOSC editor and TouchOSC bridge from the developer's website, which is here: http://hexler.net

Install TouchOSC bridge and set it up in reaper by going to options >preferences >midi devices and enable the input and output of TouchOSC bridge. Make sure your soundcard midi inputs and outputs are enabled as well.

Now you can run the TouchOSC editor and make a custom layout that corresponds to your MPC's button mode. Or you can modify the logicpad layout and add extra pages that specifically control the MPC, while still keeping the pages that control Reaper. Don't be intimidated by all this custom layout stuff. Making a basic layout that sends midi note and cc is paint by the numbers easy.

Once you have TouchOSC bridge enabled and a layout setup, we're going to make a control track in Reaper. Do this by inserting a virtual instrument on a new track and choose any virtual instrument you have (the track has to be inserted as a virtual instrument on a new track or this won't work).

Select TouchOSC bridge for the midi input of the track and select your hardware midi output for the output of the track. If you don't already have a midi cable connecting your hardware interface's midi output to the MPC's midi input, then do this now.
Arm the track for record and disable the efx.

Now you have a wireless control surface for both Reaper and the MPC.

I just started exploring this avenue but the possibilities are looking good, from routing controls to specific channels, automation, and maybe launching macros.

^ i love this and have been doing it for a while. makes me want a used 1st gen ipad to pick up Lemur, but for some reason they're still stupidly expensive even used.

anyway, i came back to this idea and i'm working it right now...
mpc is playing at home in my apartment, and i'm at work listening to it.
wish i'd remembered to turn down the soudn from my monitors, though haha any neighbor who works the night shift is gonna hate me today

When I first read the topic "control mpc remotely over internet", I thought... who is the fkn dumbazz asking this question?
Then I saw that it was Nym and thought... must be some good info... let me investigate further and read on.

The title could be "How to sample through Midi" and if I saw it was Nym, I'd be hopeful...
