3.1 MPC 60 "stereo" mode question

I'm thinking about getting the 3.10 OS chip and was wondering if the stereo mode gets any louder our punchier on the main outputs? Or is it just creating the left and right pan of a stereo sound?

I cant answer that exactly... however I am guessing it wont. I am not sure if the 60 has some sort of adjustable pot for the outputs... it may be worth checking the service manual for it though.

Also, I am not sure what that mod entails that sometimes you see or hear about ... the gain boosting mod.. maybe look into that?

What's up? How's life? How's the ASR? I've been busy working a hectic IT job. The money is good, but between work and having a 5 day workout schedule. I sometimes get a one in two week chance to hit the MPC. On a real off day, I am chopping away and saving sounds so I have an opportunity to work with them later.

It looks like I won't do the upgrade then. I'll just use my emu 1616m's +4Db boost setting. If I want to distort I might just invest in a tube preamp or a stomp box.
The effect I was shooting for was how the drums sounded in Ayatollah's "the life" which sounds a bit overdriving or a hot boost.

My understanding is the general intention of this feature is to sample a stereo image. it wouldn't make your outputs louder.

however, typically when you play 2 of the same identical signal at once, it gets louder. so if you wanted to make a mono sample louder you could apply the stereo sample feature to two identical mono samples.

I haven't actually tried the stereo sample feature so i can't confirm this, but it would make sense.
