Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By MrJigsawsoul Thu Aug 02, 2012 8:31 am
I recently received an MPC 2000xl from the parents of a good friend of mine that pasted away.

Everything seems pretty straight forward although I have seemed to hit a wall with a a few things, that have been key to my work flow in the past.

First of is there anyway to set all the samples to mono, so each samples cuts of the next when being played or can I only assign just two pads? seems somewhat strange.

Second, is the away to tune/pitch all samples at once, not having to change them all individually, this can take ages. Can't see why this feature was over looked.

I know you have the JJOS for the 1000, 2500. Has anyone made any types of modes for the 2000xl at all...?

if you guys have the answer's let me know, thanks...

No there is just a workaround to cut....I think 6 pads (6 pads cut eachother 6 pads). It uses the simult function to play empty pads wich cut 2 other pads. The exact way how it's done is somewhere in this forum.

No you always have to hit the pad and then change the parameter you want to change. If you've done this for 1 or 2 weeks you'll so used to it that you end up beeing fast as he is (2:05 - 2:35).

also look how he change the setting from MONO to NOTE ON at 1:18

No not yet and it seem that noone with the required access to AKAI infos and programming knowledge (is there even 1 person that has both?) want to program or publish something like this.
Would be great to see a well programmed update tho.

I was just gonna say look in the manual for MUTE ASSIGN and NOTE OFF. Those features should help.
Remember 2kxl is not a full sampler so you won't find global param setting everywhere.

go to bank B.. or D.. or a pad you aren't using.

assign your high hat ... or one of your samples you already have in ram to that pad .. in params.. pitch the sample as high as it goes (+240 or something) and put the filter (LPF) to the lowest setting (which is 0) .. now go to the mixer... turn the volume of that pad to the lowest volume... but then turn it up a tad so it isn't at 0... I found when the pad volume is at 0 then it sometimes messes up. (that is why we pitched up and put it through the low pass filter) .. now a sample you need to mute ... make this pad do that muting...

or you could properly trim your samples.
