MPC2000xl not enough memory? :S

The sequencer ram doesnt come from the 2megs of sample ram because i have removed it and i am still able to load sequences without any problem at all!
If i knew which of the other 2 16mbit (2mb) rams onboard is the sequencer ram i would have already swapped it with the sample one to see what will change!
No prob Lampdog , we now know for sure that its ignored but thats in the user level (what the user sees)..The machine may need this ram installed even if it has 32 megs installed though....

I am highly looking forward to the end result once you got there... so please post up what ever you try and the result.

I will now try to change place to the rams ( i will pick one of the two and with some luck i will pick up the correct!!)

I just killed it trying to remove the second ram..!
They dont need too much heat so the ram is now dead (resoldered it and does nothing...)
I will have to get 2 new ram chips now...

No no!! Its alive!!
Just done an "electric shock xD" and revived it!!
It was a pin of the ram on the air which you cant see it with the eye so i soldered it and its back to life!
Gonna check now for disconnecting pins on the dsp chip cause its seems to be possible after that experience with the ram..!

To procceed i need one ram chip to replace the sound one which i believe is faulty...
My theory of operation is that the big custom dsp chip, at startup (power on) talks to the internal ram chip to see if there is proper connection with the ram bus and then searches for simms...
But if it cannot talk to the first ram chip (the 2mb internal one) it believes that there is a problem and does not procceed to check for other ram in the simm sockets...
Maybe it uses the internal memory as a buffer or something too as the 3 memories (2 simms and 2mb internal) share the same bus and same pins on the custom dsp cpu...
There where 2 pins desoldered on the dsp on mine and i soldered them back but it doesnt seems to have changed anything (as the lines are empty)....
Maybe i am wrong with my theory so if someone has got the sound ram chip off the motherboard please tell us here what is going on the machine after that..!
It is more possible to find out by myself though cause i dont think anyone with a working machine would have tried to remove the internal ram , theres no point in doing that..!
One thing i have already done is disconecting the light from the screen so it doesnt get warm and begin to have lines...
I placed a switch so i can manually turn on the light when i cant read the screen..!

Just got my 2kxl up and running!!!
Had to resolder the old ram and desolder , clean and resolder the custom dsp chip!!
Now 32megs and can record/play!!!

Had tried reflow and cleaning but didn't worked..!
I still found that the internal ram doesnt work...
If i remove the 32mb simm the ram says 65388kb free and 0 installed...
So if i can find this ram chip i will replace it...
It works now perfect though..!
I don't remember the temperatures cause i had the old one a whole winter and not summer ...
Can you please tell me if the ram in yours become too hot after 20-30 mins of use?

I found why it became hot!!
I had installed 1x16 mb and 1x32 (didn't knew that it was 32 megs as it was sent with the faulty mpc to me...
After i removed the 32 megs no more freezes and not so hot as before...
