Same here. I used to own an Evolver from '04 (version 1.0) till last year. Always had the best customer service as well.

far from it. i had bought a used mono evolver keyboard... a lot of the knobs were rather "jumpy" and would skip around on their own... so i contacted DSI to see what could be done about it.

DSI customer service admitted that the first round of the evolvers had crappy knobs and had since been upgraded to better ones [whereas akai even denied upgrading the pads on the 1000 to our faces after fixing a known issue due to cheaper parts].

they asked me to ship them the internal circuit boards in order to replace every pot... they gave me great instructions on how to accomplish this, which was actually very easy... they then replaced every single pot on the circuit boards with new/better ones and shipped it back for free... it arrived, i put it back together and everything worked like new. this entire experience only cost me $8 to ship the boards to them... no more... akai asks for repair fees as well as shipping charges. akai can seriously go fvck themselves the more i think about it...

I havent tried the Nord Wave yet or even seen it. Must have missed out somewhere. But they're all virtual analog. Nords sound good. But it's up to you if you're looking for real analog or not.

I see the Nord Wave is a whole different animal than the usual virtual analog... this one's very interesting Lamp. You may wanna dig into this as much as possible.... several types of synthesis rolled into one definitely got my attention.

I had a wave for a couple months, its a very cool machine, Nord has that really nice interface, and the efx of it are really easy and effective. I sold it quick for a couple reason thou, to me it sounded technical and stiff, unlike the Lead 1 and 2X, which to me is looser and more alive tone/soundwise. Also there really isn't alot of room for your own samples, unless you literally delete all the internals, which would be deleting the awesome sounding mellotron sounds that come in stock (and you cant sample live, I knew that when I got it thou). This along with its ridiculous pricetag, I just couldn't justify it, wasnt really in love with keybed either. Id look at used Vsynth if you want to get intensely crazy with sample synthesis. Its UI isn't even close to as simple as Wave though. To me thats were Nords really shine, is the simple as can be interface.

Yeah I'm reading along and it apparently does let you load your own samples. It doesnt record like an ASR or any other sampler. But that's no important. This looks like something worth demoing at a music store without a doubt.

Cool you are able to test it out, I bought it blindly off of specs, no place around me really sells Nords exp for the Stage stuff. The editor/librarian is one of the easiest Ive encountered though, dumb simple. And this is coming from someone who barely touches a computer for making/ loading music, etc... Nord also has some great free downloable waves on website (jupiter 4/ prophet, etc..)Although I didnt keep it, it still is a really cool board. Not many synths can you combine waves, FM, and classic VA with a flick of a few knobs. Always dug the wooden bender too. Another thing to mention is its not really multitimbral friendly like the Lead boards, it really shines when combining diff oscillators, sounds, etc...
