The answer is yes. You can play a sequence and 'resample' it. You can play a sequence and play the pads while the sequencer is running....and 'resample' it. Most sampling drum machines (at least the good ones) has this feature.

An MPC manual has over 100 pages. Akai's website is no more than two pages. Obviously the MPC Ren (or any other MPC) does much more than what is advertised on its website.

Sampling from record in while sequencer is playing? That sounds like a basic operatio to me.

Are you talking about the Ren mixing the incoming signal with that of the sequencer playing and sampling? If so...that may not be possible as I have yet to see any video on an Input Thru function like the 5000.

Or perhaps I am just not understanding the question completely.

I think you don't understand what he's saying, I remember watching a video and Andy saying that this function is possible.

This is my interpretation of it.

Externally I can feed audio through the LINE IN and sample into the ASR-10.
Just the LINE IN is sampled in this case. This is what I think is being asked.

ASR-10 can also re-sample it's main out with and without effects, sample recording can be synchronized to the sequence playback start button (I've used that one alot in the past).
