AC-7 core, TouchOSC to control RME Totalmix software?

I believe the TotalMix software supports both MIDI control and Mackie Control emulators (Maybe HUI). So, either should work. I've used TouchOSC before for other stuff but I've never tried the AC-7 software.

…for building custom controller templates for sets and the most used parameters in various software. Basically, I used it as an add-on set of virtual knobs and toggles. I usually use physical controllers also but found that having some fully customizable virtual controls for things that are out of sight is useful.

I believe there are other custom ipad controllers that send OSC (and sometimes also even MIDI CC) messages as well. In my experience they're a bit of a pain to set up, but surprisingly, latency was never really an issue.

I find the colors useful in lowlight situations (I colorize in my DAW also) and because the eye/brain quickly responds to color but you can always change the colors to grayscale using the TouchOSC Editor.

I'm using TouchOSC to control Reaper and the 1k and everything works flawlessly with no noticeable latency. AC-7 Core looks real slick too but it doesn't look like you can customize it, unlike TouchOSC which can be made to be whatever you need it to be.

Lemur is another good control surface. It has a realistic looking interface and has the capability to be customized.... but it's 50 bucks and never goes on sale

Lemur is another good one indeed but a bit more involved than TouchOSC. For most intents and purposes TouchOSC will do the job but Lemur's physics engine and controllers are awesome. It's editor goes a bit deeper also.

The only MIDI interface I've used with the iPad was the iConnectMIDI one and the CCK from Apple. Two extremes but both work. I usually just connect wirelessly (Ad hoc). Latency hasn't even been an issue with that but it depends on your network.

There's also the free Control app which does a similar thing as TouchOSC and Lemur.

For control purposes I go wireless as well. It saves midi connection real estate and in the case of TouchOSC, peripheral devices that are midi connected to your interface/ daw can still be controlled. For synth programming I use the IK Multimedia iRig Midi. It has midi in, out, thru, and even a mini-usb connection for power. So far I haven't had a single problem with it.

I don't mind Lemur being more in depth, I'm cool with that. I have lots of patience and time. But seems like AC-7 core is outta the picture then Roger that CCK and iConnectMIDI.

I think the AC-7 one is more targeted toward mixing in the DAW. So, it may have it's uses yet, for those that prefer it. People seem to like it for that purpose. The others are more for creating custom control surface setups for general mapping and control (via OSC, MIDI) like Ocular typed earlier.

Control's generic name makes it easy to look over or not even find. Maybe it's discontinued or pulled or something because I couldn't find the link anymore. It's the one that looks like this.
