new pad upgrade

apparently the new upgrade already comes with the board attached and the mpc 1000 has the same type of connect cable already. did you guys that buy this new upgrade just dis-connect the cable that comes with the upgrade, because the one that is already connected to the mpc1000 is underneath the main plate, and im not even sure you're supposed to get under there...

I ordered the mpcstuff mpc1000 pad/sensor upgrade and you're freaking me out. That plus all the threads about mpcstuff fat pads sucking has me really concerned right now (even though i didnt order fat pads its just one more thing about mpc1000 that is flawed out of the box).

So please could you clarify what exactly you are trying to say about upgrading your mpc. Thanks. Because it looks like you are claiming the circuit board that comes with the mpcstuff pad/sensor upgrade ISNT AT ALL NEEDED.

Have you confirmed this and it's working 100% without the board? Because I thought the new circuit board was needed to adapt the mpc1000 to the new style of sensors needed to eliminate akai's failing pad flaw.

Help.

edit: everything is working good now. you just have to disconnect the bigger cable that is already connected to the board (which is a small pain to get out) when you get it in the mail. and connect the cable that is already hanging out on the mpc 1000 and connect it to your new board.

then the new board has a smaller connection that hooks up down on the bottom left beside where the slider is. go ahead and connect that one and the only thing left to do is insert the new pads on top.

(if i could do it, anyone else can )

the new, 2012 version of mpcstuff's pad/sensor upgrade kit is a single piece, unlike the old kits which were 2 pieces. With the 2012 kit you just have to unhook one end of the MPCs internal pad cable and plug it in, instead of using the cable that comes with the kit. Yes?

you got it man...im not very good when it comes to the technical side of the machine, so i was a bit nervous...but everything is working perfectly now. the pads are working great now.

Im actually looking forward to this, I hardly touch my MPC because its had failing pads since I bought it (and also I sold all the synths I was sequencing with it). I'm excited to do some finger-drumming once the thing is functional.

Guys I'm pretty lost here, I'll be buying my new Akai MPC1000, but what is so shitty about the pads? And there is this ''JJ -OS'' thing, in this tutorial you sent, it says ''This pads are working also with JJ-OS'', so can't i just basicly install JJ-OS to my akai 1000 won't it work with its current pads?

Older MPC1ks have a 100% failure rate of their pads. After a bit of use they get less and less sensitive to pressure and then die completely. Do not buy a blue MPC1k or Rev1 black MPC1k unless it's got the pad sensor upgrade installed - this ensures the pads won't fail.

i installed the free version of jjos BEFORE i got my upgrade and the OS worked just fine, the problem is with the old pads, eventually you'll have to upgrade the sensors and pads because it will kill your fingertips, having to hit them hard enough to get a sound out.

the only version of the mpc 1000 that people say already comes with the upgrade is the black mpc 1000 with a black back panel. others will need to be upgraded.

but about the jjos, it will work on the mpc with or without the pad upgrade

You were right, installing is pretty easy. I hate those plastic cable connectors - its difficult to remove/attach them because I feel like I'm going to rip the SMT jack off of the circuit board every time. Its tough to get the cable affixed 100%.

Sorry guys, the new kits come with a long wire that isn't really needed. They also come pre-assembled. We have been meaning to make a new video, its just that since the process is easier now we expected it to be a bit self-explanatory. But to non-pros we can see where you may get a bit confused with the extra wire.
