ASR-10 can also re-sample it's main out with and without effects, sample recording can be synchronized to the sequence playback start button (I've used that one alot in the past).

As we all know, the ASR was way ahead of its time when it first hit the market, which was 20 years ago. 8)

And although I haven't used this feature yet, but the 4k states that it can sample while playing along with its sequencer as well.

So with that being said, it pays to make very wise purchases that will carry on for decades.

Are you talking about the Ren mixing the incoming signal with that of the sequencer playing and sampling? If so...that may not be possible as I have yet to see any video on an Input Thru function like the 5000.

Or perhaps I am just not understanding the question completely.

Basically, the idea is to record/sample a live element like a guitar or electric piano or some scratches, but playing these elements along to the sequence that is playing, and with the use of the SAMPLER, not an audio track.

That is what I was referring to when I said basic operation. I can't see why any sampler would exclude this function.

Maybe we are not talking about the samething as the MPC 5000 can do what I described if I recall correctly.

on JJXL use audio track to record the sample while sequence is playing, then once that sample is recorded it assign to pad re-record in sequence and can record another sample over the same audio track and do the same proces over again, technically isnt sampler being used ?

I guess. But on Maschine, you can sample directly into the sampler (has no audio tracks), and chop and sequence the sample all without stopping the sequence! No need to do any pad assigning or scrolling through a million samples to find the one you want on a pad. This is what I meant. However, the audio tracks come in handy too because you can just record directly where you want and not have to chop and sequence the take, provided you nailed it the way you wanted it.

Initally I thought no...but after thinking about it ... people who play an instrument would benefit from this. It would not help me as much. If it makes ren more complete I am all for it. Users shout not have to use another system but Ren to complete a project. And if maschine has a useful feature it would help akai to also have that feature.

Going back to what I wrote earlier....the MPC 5000 can do this.

Just because few people talk about it these days doesn't mean people forget. The 4000 was really the first MPC that was severely infested with bugs upon its release...
