step editing on the 4000????

on my 2000 I used to be able to see the note i.e. c# in the step edit, and now I just see the pad number. How can I change this? Also, When I used to go into step edit mode, the mpc would be in record mode for that particular point in the sequence. Now it just shows a list on the 4k and I can't add a note or insert an event. How do I do this? - J. White

Dude, didn't you download the manual? I'm pretty sure as with previous MPC's there is a section on step editing.

5 Q's in a row? Did you read the manual or the Newbie Bible? Most people here don't mind answering Q's but come on, a lot of this info is in the manual and newbie bible. It just seems as though you didn't bother reading.

If you can't even bother to read the manual, at least try experimenting. The step edit ain't exactly complicated on the 4000..

First off, if you morons had spent the same ammount of time reading and talking $h!t about my questions, you could have just answered them. You act like you were never confused about something. Second, I'm sure in the 100 + pages of threads i'm not the only one to repeat a question. Third, yes I have read the manual and just like any manual or textbook every explanation isn't perfect. For those who answered or at least tried to thanks very much. - J. White

It should be pad/note number next duration, velocity , and tuning.

To insert a note press overdub button and now hit the pad. Personally I would use the sequence editor in grid mode to insert or edit the notes it easier and the graphical. You should heed everyone`s advice and read the manual it`s in there in the first pages of the manual. Push every button with the manual as your best friend. The 4k has more features and window than the 2k get your mind right you just step up to advanced machine. Will you master it or will the challenge of learning defeat you.

read the manual everyone else did. The best piece of advice I receive when I first started posting here. Boy looking back I had some pretty basic questions just like you when I started that were in the first chapter I didn`t review properly but I`m better now cuz I read. So can you.

Are you paying for this support that you are getting in this forum? Sound like you think
you are... I personally wouldn't go calling people Morons, when they are the same people
who I am asking FREE advice from. Basically a Forum equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot.

If there are 100+ pages of threads and you think that this might have been answered
again, then go digging through the threads. That's why they are archived.

It's fully detailed on page 64 of the MPC 4000 refenece manaul how to insert notes
in Step Mode.

My Linux PDF viewer doens't allow me to copy the text, or I would copy and paste
the steps into here...


I think most people got overwhelmed by 5 questions that are answered in the Manual.
There's a "Newbie" forum that's on this site for the less advanced type of questions,
so maybe the Forum admin (don't know how that is) shold have moved your 5 questions to there.
