had no problems during a four hour session friday night.

sunday afternoon i power it up (akai os 1.24) and:

1) i cannot change the program or program type from the main sequence screen. however, if i hit the window button while the program is highlighted, it can still be changed using that menu. but moving the jogwheel while the program or type is highlighted do nothing. every other option on this screen can be changed.

2) all of a sudden the triggers for the top eight pads are acting very funny - 12 triggers 14, or not at all, etc.

3) 16 levels no longer works at all. all other buttons in that bank work fine.

4) mode button is suddenly funny; it turns on and off, but sometimes takes a few shots.

i've tried a factory reset, but the issues persist. may open it up to clean things out and see if maybe the pad sensor started coming loose, but the rest of these issues, particularly the inability to change the drum and pgm settings from the main screen, are very troubling. i haven't dropped it and i've not gigged it in months.

i presume i'm going to have to take it to rogue (i'm in nyc) but any ideas in the meantime? #1 is just baffling, and doesn't seem to be connected to anything physically wrong with the box.

ETA: and now the note repeat triggers pads 14 and 15 whenever it's engaged.

spoke to bruce forat on the phone - i know he's highly recommended by everyone i speak to, even here on the east coast. still waiting to hear back from vst, who came highly recommended from davidson electronics.

the worrisome thing is that everyone has said the exact same thing when i describe or show them the problem: "that's weird."

its the pad sensors...i first started experiencing issues with my tap tempo button, a month later i'm making a track and one of my pads didn't react to me pressing it. Next thing i know i cant change my TYPE or Program fields on the screen. and 16 levels stopped working as well. so i change my pad sheet and to no avail now three other pads were not working from a new sheet! i sat on this issue about trade up towards a kronos or mpc ren. but right before i sold it i gave another look at my pad sensor job....tip- no bubbles. and all is well

dhex, I'd start with some simple troubleshooting that can be done by yourself.

Pull out the ram and put it back in, check cf card reader for bend pins, reinstall OS.

im sayin go buy you some pad sensors, some duck adhesive remover and replace your pad sensor sheet. it may take a day so they set in good, then you back to work.
