Layering synth

what are the synth layering options on the mpc4000?

i mean, i noticed that when i synthesize on my keyboards, i layer and mix sounds alot. I was just wondering how easy it is to do this on the 4k.

like: when you create a multisample(or load one) can you then go about layering the multisample?

btw. im bought to jump into the mpc4000, just gotta find the best price!

I'm not sure if this is what you meant, but when I have a few nice sounds I wanna mesh together I record the one instrument onto one track and then simply copy that track to the next track and change it's midi channel to the one that corresponds to the instrument I wanna layer onto it. So for example set your module/keyboard/synth up to have each sound you wanna layer on seperate midi channels, then record one, copy it to another track and change the midi channel.

if you meant just in the mpc 4000 the answer is yes. You can load your samples or a program of samples and then set the pad to play 2 or 3 more on top of it simultaneously. I use this a lot for drum samples to layer snares, claps or whatever. - J. White

yup, thanks! i did mean samples inside the mpc.

okay, i know about drums samples and each pad. But i was thinking more like a synth, like layering Multisamples that are loaded inside the mpc.

Like if you create 2 multis, and then can you layer the whole multi? or do you have to layer each individual note?

you want to layer keygroup (synth) programs which can have 24 layers of sound (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) spaned accross the keybord, not the same thing as multi) of corse holding down two notes like that will cost you 48 voices if all sounds span over the whole keybrd ...

but the mpc has two parts per track .. each part can be a program (drum(4layers p pad) or keygroup(up to 24layers) or a midi instruments, then you can copy and paste and set the two parts per track to playing dif synths.. 2 tracks per track is what I'm gettin at

On my triton, you get four oscilators, where you can have a sample for each one to make up one program

Or you can create combis which layer up to 8 programs.....and you can create a program from a sample.

on my emu, i can layer 4 rom samples.
