When I save a program and load it, pads missing samples

I have spent some time dinking around withmy 2500 on this. I read the manual carefully, and did some internet searches and searches on this forum...

I am using the current standard OS for the 2500.

So, what happens is I have a new program. I go to load mode and load samples and map them to pads. Then I save the program with samples.

I power off and power on. I load the program. The program comes up and loads the samples, but the pads are not linked to samples. If I go into program mode and link the pads to samples and save the program again, it retains the relationship next time I load. In program mode, it appears I can only link pads to samples already in memory.

This two step process makes me think I am missing something. Is there a better workflow for assigning samples to pads in a program so that when one loads it, the pads play the samples?

Also, is there a way that samples can be named consecutively and then a mass load would assign them to pads in their order?

did u try to reinstall the operating system? there's no new one up cause akai is stupid and will make something new every 10 years and will discontinue it while another company will improve upon it.. but try reinstalling that operating system
i've been getting the file not found error after loading a program, but all the files are actually there.. smh

when you save... create a new folder, name that folder something, and then save ENTIRE MEMORY into that folder you just created...

when you load... select the folder and load the entire folder... also press CLEAR so that it will erase all files in memory before loading...

what happens is that the MPC creates a default program at startup called PROGRAM01... if you don't rename your prgorams before saving, and/or press the clear button when loading a program with that same default name, the blank PROGRAM01 stays in memory without any samples assigned to pads... the tips above should resolve this...

Thanks guys. I did get it figured out. Crossings was on point, as I was sort of saving and loading but not knowing from or to where. I have had some success, but still not 100% on the concepts--but its getting close.

I know about computers, but I just have to get my head around how this one works.

This can lead to confusing situations when you have multiple beats in your memory.

Name everything. The samples, sequences and the programs. If you save them in the same folder then nothing can go wrong.

Usually I start with recording a sample. I name that sample. Then I chop it, and when i convert it to a sliced program, the mpc will automatically name the program after the sample. Then I always copy the name of the program, and paste it to name the sequence. Then i paste it to rename my program I use for my drumsounds for that particular beat. (Put the word 'drums' behind it so me and the machine now what is what)
Then I make a new folder and copy paste the name of the beat/sequence/program into the folders' name.
I always save manually, which means I save each sequence and program (with samples) to the same folder individually. This what works best for me.

Choose 'Save All Programs and Samples", make a new folder... if you have sequences made, then save those too immediately after and it will save to the folder you just made...
When you load it, load the folder, not it's individual content... This has never let me down not a single time, every other way (such as saving the entire memory) has let me down before...
