Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

One more part of being a one stop shop DAW is effects Automation.

Will REN record Automation Data For automated effects processing?

I don't want to hear about, "its not out yet". One of those Akai guys has to know this one. Jah what do you know about this?

Hey and not just the internal effects...what about the plugins. If you can do one you be able to do the other but I just like to make sure.

It's not out yet, and if it's not an official word then it's not supposed to be told.

Also, it's being billed as "daw-like", not a one stop shop.

I've just relooked at all the videos...and I am surprised no one has asked about automation outside of Saint Joe and Flux's video when they asked if the Ren would automate external synths...which Dan replied 'yes."

Other than that there is no information on automation. So while I can't exactly answer your question with a resounding "yes", I can simply point you back to previous MPCs that incorporated Qlinks. The MPC 2500, 4000, and 5000 have assignable Qlinks that you can record movement/automation into a sequence. The Ren has 16 Qlinks..more than any other MPC. So if the Ren has at least the same level of functionality of previous MPCs....perhaps.

I hope this answer/response is adequate. But questions like this could have easily been asked/answered when Dan and Andy were here. Too bad their threads were locked.

But I believe he is more interested in actual individual effect parameters....like can you record movements of a Qlink that is assigned to an individual effect parameter such as a filter.

Oh come on, that's feeble. Those threads get locked for whatever reason, that's not stopping the guys from Akai popping in and answering a few questions every now and then.

Yup just go to mixer page, then drum mixer, hit record and turn the individual send knob. Nothing to it all mpcs do this. But whether he can automap third plugins bob's your uncle. I will just use my daw.

Well if the Ren can't automate internal/external effects, I certainly believe it should.

Tutor is a current MPC 5000 user so perhaps he can chime in to give details if the MPC 5000 can automate individual effect params beyond 'Send knobs'; I think the MPC 5000 can but I haven't used one in years.

For me, I believe ultimately that the Ren should incorporate all features of legacy MPCs. And then once it is solid, add new and innovative features.

Of course it can automate send, level, pan, filter, tuning, start, resonance, lfos, and just about everything else. Like I said it may not auto map, but you should be able to use control change midi to external plugins if you know how to set it up.

Exactly! There are tons of settings that can be adjusted, not just the amount of an effect applied to a channel. I've not used many MPCs. I had a 2000xl at one point, which I regret selling, and I don't think it did what I'm asking about now.

What I'm talking about is changing the cuttoff on a filter and the resonance, concurrently, for an 8 or 16 bar duration. I see people do this in real time. I want to do it once, record it, and have the sequence do that everytime I play it back.

Like I said all mpcs do this. I'm an ex 2xl user, 3k, 1k, and 4k user. Just follow the steps I said before. Instead go to the cutoff page and hit record and tweak cutoff and resonance or use qlink assigned to cutoff, hit record and tweak. And you could even do it by lfo controlling the program cutoff. Alot of steps are in the tips and tricks sections. I'm sure the ren, studio and fly would be no different. Filter automation is a pretty standard function on groove boxes.

Thanks for pointing that out Blue Haze! . This is good news. I did not take the time to learn the ins and outs of my 2000xl when I had it. It's a tragic story really....

This question gas been answered already, and I believe every parameter can have automation applied to it, look at the earlier vids, and by the way I never automated anything on my 2kxl, never knew tht was possible.

I think that this is more of a software concern then the Ren concern here. Personally, if they hadn't said anything about it, it probably means that they are working on the concept and turning it into a reality right now. I think that without recording automations, then this MPC would be a step back in time of MPC's. So, in reality, I'm pretty sure that it will be able to record automations. The only thing I might be uncertain about is the ability of the DAW-Like properties of the VST. Maybe most of that will be handled WITHIN the Ren itself, and not the DAW, who knows just yet.
