I wrote similar threads in multiple forums discussing latency when using products like Maschine and other software synths. Experienced users of these products don't have the perceived 'issues' we had been discussing here.

When the Ren is released, I am certainly interested in doing some benchmark testing. I would like to compare the Ren's performance when using it's built in audio device and using a third party audio device across operating systems and different computer specs.

only in combination with a powerful computer and proper drivers. but remember: the ren is targeted towards kids and wannabe-producers. and these kids doesn´t always have the newest ans fastest computers.

can you dig it?

Noticed this by **** - he's got a point about the less powerful computers n'stuff. If you think about where some of the ground breaking music came from, it tends to be where the kids don't have access to the top-flight gear. Hip-hop from NY ghettos. Acid from Chi ghettos. Punk from London ghettos etc. All done on cheap-sh*t secondhand shop gear.

In contrast Dubstep requires a healthy budget and great technical knowledge - the result - Skrillex = a phenomenal & dull cul-de-sac.

The kids with the old cheap computers are not to be underestimated... and if they can't use the Ren because of latency, then they'll be using something else. Probably the mpc1000s that Ren users have ditched.

That's bullshit! These same kids are using cracked versions of Fruity Loops on their parents old computers and making BANGERS. Let's also not forget you can get a pretty powerful computer from **** Walmart for less than $500 now. My wifes cousin got a pretty monster of an HP from Staples for like $400 a couple years ago (6GB DDR3 triple channel, high performance AMD motherboard, and a quad core processor, WITH a widescreen LCD). Most computers over the last 3-5 years will be more than adequate. You're saying these "broke" kids are gonna have cheap computers, but you're forgetting that these same broke kids aren't gonna have an arsenal of resource hoggin, expensive VST's either. So AGAIN, just using the Ren the same as any hardware MPC, will not cause resource or latency issues! The average household today will have a computer that can handle Ren. It's not the year 1999 anymore.

Youtube and the rest of the net says different. Those lil thieves have some of the best stuff out there. If it's not protected by a dongle or hardware they have it. Just because they have to steal it doesn't mean they aren't using it.

Which further validates my point. If they are using it, then they have computers that can handle it. If they are using these programs on computers that can't handle them, then that is not Akai's fault for creating a software MPC. They can still sequence the same "acquired" plugins from the Ren just the same as they can from a hardware MPC or MV or any software like Maschine or FL or Logic! 1999 is in the pass!

You guys act like Akai is the first company to create production software. Millions of people have been using production software for years without issues. This really is nothing new like some of you seem to be making it out to be! Shit, 9th Wonder was making HITS on Fruity Loops. And he was broke back then, so I'm sure the computer he used likely wasn't half as powerful as the average consumer grade computer available today, and it probably costed twice what comparable computers cost today!

I see what your saying but nobody renders VST/i plugs in real time. These guys substantially lighten their cpu load by freezing the tracks.

Well, I guess some people do it like that. I never do. I always have my VST instruments in real-time while making the track. Instruments only get's frozen once I track to Pro Tools. Mainly because none of the software I used has a freezing feature. Well, Pro Tools does (in a sense; audio tracks), but I never sequence in Pro Tools. Only use it as a sound module! But my computer could handle it. I always run my effects plug-ins in real-time. Either way, if this were an issue for a Ren user, they could simply resample the VST and sequence it back in like people have been doing with hardware MPC's and hardware/software sound modules for years. 8)

No I can't.
That statement is utter nonsense.!

peace :smoker:

utter bollocks how on earth did son conclude that the mpc ren is targeted at kids and wanna be's pure delusional hater ism, see how peeps can demonise or attempt to ridicule anything that does not subscribe to their own slanted viewpoint

Several different times that same person has done this.
