yea i was sayin mono polyphony instead of stereo (when u hit the next pad it cuts off the first one.. or a blank pad, to make a silence)
Ahh, Thanks for the advice, yeah it was confusing cause I know the MPC 60 only samples in mono, and it later hit me that he meant PRG MONO, which is like one shot 1/1 due to sample overlapping. (a difference in terms confused me) sorry about that.
It seems really common to start with the drums then the samples is what im getting, iv always done the opposite due to finding the sample that loops first, then drums that are "fitting" or in tune with the sample, I normally never drop a whole break and just put a loop over it, I always find individual Kicks Snares Percs and overlap to get a thick sound, cause id rather create some individual swing OVER slicing a break and just being done with it. Doesnt seem to creative. The issue with that is not everything is connecting to sound as once piece or a fine loop.
I think the answer for me is developing a more keen ear for sharper and better connecting loops. Ill have a loop that sounds sexy, check the bpm, in "time stretch" feature, it says something like 134.6, so whatever ill stretch it to 135, it doesnt even sound different and some how as soon as I involve that time stretch feature things seem to loose ground or not make sense. Im also still using the free jjos, (might be time to upgrade)
I think I am slowly figuring it out, no rush, im def taking my time and understand theres no easy fix for the art of producing its more experiences and hands on time, iv been only involved with an MPC for less than a year.
