JAH wrote:The MPC 4000 is the best MPC at doing this specific function. It allows you to do exactly what I am describing. The MV and Fantom G does exactly what I am describing as does the Korg Kronos. All of the features I described here are possible with one or more products I own. There is a good reason why these samplers have this deeper integration of applying effects.

Maschine is one of the samplers I own that can't perform this way.

That's because the 4000 is designed to create instruments like keys, strings, leads, pads, bass etc. They have those features for advanced sampling. Its why the 4k gives you the 24 Bit 48,96 Khz option, 512 MB Ram option, and a massive storage memory option, its for detailed advance samples, ..I might be wrong. But I doubt The Ren is for advanced sampling. Advanced sampling is not indicated in any of the videos.

See the 4000 has a clear vision, a clear objective. It's to create prestine, natural sounding, defined instruments, solid percussion, and good sequences. Every feature they have is to serve this purpose.

Your feature list is all over the place. There's no reason for the specific feature you mentioned unless it had a clear purpose. That was part of the 5000's downfall. Instead of having a clear purpose with a dedicated feature list. It tried to please everybody. He who pleases everybody, pleases no one.

As a relatively new guy to this forum, now I see why they talk to you the way they do. I'll admit, I didn't see it before. The way you just twisted what happened, thats a serious gift man.

Where did you get that from what IMMB said?

I already described everything under the sun...every function that I believe would be useful in the Ren. Indicating what it has now specifically is not appropriate since it isn't commerically available.

So it seems some folks are more concerned about what I want instead of their own personal needs. You make me feel special.

JAH, being a fair advocate of logic (no pun) and reasoning, I have to say that no one is putting too much stock into what you want. YOU are more concern about what you want as it's evident in all of these polls and threads you are creating. They just want to know more about the REN and they know that you have a one and is trying to ask you questions about what it can/can not do, in its current state. you seem to twist things into your favor so you can play the victim.

if you don't want people asking you about what your REN can/can not do, then make a blanket statement saying "don't ask you anything about the ren" it's really hard for people to have a meaningful discussion about a product that's not release yet with someone who does have it and will not disclose anything. Believe me I know about NDCs but even when the akai reps were here at least they were answering basic questions about the product. you are not even doing that.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

The Ren section (AKA jah's blog) should be locked down altogether until the wakai reps drag their sorry arses back online to let potential buyers know what the state of play is.

Im glad more people are realizing what is going on here....I think it is clear who is the real troll here. It's not people who call out Jah on BS but_______(fill in the blank)___himself....

Agree with what Coz said, without Ren's release to public, or akai officials in here. This section is nothing more or less than playground for Jah's trolling, yet we get bad rep for not rolling with the trolls BS...

Jah doesnt exactly provide more in depth feedback than what can be already found online, youtube, akai videos etc. His feature requests are pointless since we dont know what state currently Ren is in. One minute he claims it's got all the bells and whistles next minute he creates threads requesting basic functions, this is bit ridiculous.

I also feel this section should be locked up, and cleaned up until Ren's officially released, or akai officials can provide sustainable feedback. Now this section is polluted with pointless Jah's request threads and whatnot. Instead this section should be filled with information and questions related to Ren once everybody can voice their opinion and be on the same page instead of single individual who continue his truth twisting practices.

I agree so ask your questions. We actually had Q & A sessions going on until individuals like the one below ruined it.

Feel free to create your own more meaniful threads.

...exactly what I mean.

sparq wrote:They just want to know more about the REN and they know that you have a one and is trying to ask you questions about what it can/can not do, in its current state.

You should read the posts of the 'they' you are referring to going back to Jan. Then let me know if you actually believe they are interested in the Ren or any new Numark/Akai product.

This thread is now 5 pages long and seems to have ruined the day of several forum members. :? When it would have been a better thread if a forum member wrote "I would like to see the Ren have 'x' function" as opposed to "Jah _____" or simply ignoring the thread.

MPCWeapon1 wrote:Your feature list is all over the place.

Nearly all those functions are possible on the MPC 4000 and MV8800. Then that would make them all over the place which would counter your claim that the 4K was created for a specific, focused function.

Granted...

in another post I sort of agreed with you regarding "how can someone make a feature list if they don't know what it already can do" (besides the akai vids) but this thread and ones like this would have been more productive and conducive if you were to say, "ok, the ren that i have and the beta software that i am on can do this, this, this and this but it can't do this, this, this and this..." that would have given the masses more to work on when you put up a thread asking for feature lists and saying what you want to see in sample record mode and sample edit mode. then it would have been a more meaningful thread.

The 'masses' you keep referring to is a handful of individuals that have posted here everyday since Jan. They are not interested in this product. They are only interested in closing every thread.

you are not getting it. stop getting caught up on "the masses, they, whoever..." you still didn't address the point i was trying to make. if your posts/threads were a little more like what i stated, maybe there would be other masses/they/whoever that would contribute in a more productive and positive manner.

I was always perfectly cordial towards Dan and Andy.

The facts are quite simple...

Dan hung around for a while and answered a load of questions and obtained a bunch of ideas for improving the Ren hardware and software. He even foe'd a few persistent trollers but when the same questions kept being asked he eventually stopped posting.

Nobody can really have an issue with that, but with no word for 4+ months he should at the very least pop back in to give a progress report.

Akai have proclaimed that they are going to "change the game" and release the Ren in the summer. Well summer is all but gone, so where's this game changing product?

Maybe?. Look at the threads where Andy and Dan where here as perfect examples of what I am taking about.

Again....this thread is 5 pages and none of your are talking about Sample Record Mode.

is there point in asking questions if no extra info can be disclosed outside of what akai has officially released on their website ? You cant provide us with any valuable in-depth feedback other than what we can find out on our own by going to akais website or official Ren videos/info. For example your feature request thread, you start off by saying that you'd like to see those features in Ren. So I ask you if Ren in it's current state dont got these features you respond saying along the lines that it might or might not, but if certain features dont make the cut at the release you'd highlight them for future update release or something like that. How is this kind of response of any value to me or somebody who dont got Ren? How is this benefit somebody who dont got ren in front of them, other than giving you the upper hand to continue blogging about something nobody else know about.

in my humble opinion if you created youtube video using ren, basically walk thru the process of creating a beat from scratch on ren would answer lot more questions alone than half this Ren section combined. it would also gives us idea of what is Ren like and what can be improved or implemented. at this point we got nothing but pure speculation.
