Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

My point is that there is a reason why they don't discuss what they know.....

My guess is that they are focused on testing the product rather than looking for the spotlight.. :smoker:

The Ren section (AKA jah's blog) should be locked down altogether until the wakai reps drag their sorry arses back online to let potential buyers know what the state of play is.

I see it like this.

There are beta testers other than dude on this forum, and that is a good thing as we have some of the most experienced multiple MPC users around. However beta testers are recruited to test products in the privacy of their own homes and provide valuable feedback to the development team. Beta testers are not supposed to be leaking information or otherwise undermining the work of the development/ marketing teams who are ultimately responsible for launching the product to market.

It is pointless starting countless threads about the Ren when clearly the audience do not have access to the same information that a beta tester has. A one-sided discussion cannot be beneficial in any way. The beta tester is contractually prevented from disclosing certain information to the public due to commercial sensitivities. To my knowledge, no other beta testers on this forum or elsewhere have said a word about these new products, in respect of the agreements they have signed up to. That is the 'all or nothing' approach which generally works well when people are able to resist the temptation to gloat. If beta testers would just do their job in the desired manner and be quiet about what they know or have, there would be far less nonsense going on in this forum. The usual speculation and anti-Akai sentiments would no doubt prevail in the absence of any official communication from Akai, but that's to be expected in advance of a new line of products. It's an Akai product, let them market it.

What doesn't help is that we have forum members who act like little kids, trying to corner dude and force information out of him. He cant tell you what you want to know. People need to calm down and wait for official announcements, or just speculate to pass the time. Agree, disagree, discuss and debate it all contributes to a lively forum, but can we not do this in a dignified, mature way?

There is not much else to say about the Ren at this point. If beta testers spend more time testing and less time talking or posting pics in forums, I'd be happy.

Beta testers (aka long time forum members) names were included in OS going back to the MPC 2500. At least three I know periodically comment in forums. They are not leaking information but commenting on what is already in the public domain. Outside beta testers are not employees and as such do not spend 5 days a week, 8 hrs a day testing (some of that time must be dedicated to this forum  ). So implying any of them need to work harder is simply wrong.

I would be happy if forum members stay on topic or ignore the threads that annoy them. I also suggest a dedicated sub forum for feature requests like the JJ OS Forum has. On that note, I will be spending time this weekend trying to break the latest OS128XL for the 2500 and post bugs I find.
