Yes, I've check that out already, and Sweet Water has section (!) of K2000 info, but that's about it. To me, it's kind of surprising, considering that K2000 was so ahead of time. I just thought that K2000 user group was strong, but it seems to me that it is almost non-existent.
Anyway, my K2000 has no optional ROMs (I checked ebay, and they are expensive!) or any options installed. I like the piano (pretty impressive considering it was released in 1991) and some patches with "voice" sample based patches. I kind of wished that they included DX-7 E-piano-ish patches (I know many people hate it, I hated it too, but it is kind of growing on me...), since K2000 has synthesis that is similar to FM synthesis.

Mr. Dabmeister, Have you create synth patches (with V.A.S.T.) with your K2500?

Unfortunately I haven't. Not long after I picked up the kurz, I ended up grabing the triton rack, so I was more into the triton at that time than the kurz. But I have to give props to my roland jv1080 w/ both hip hop & vintage synth expansion cards, it's the one that still makes me go to it more than all my other modules.

But TBH, I'm still a fan of the kurz's string selection over the other modules I have. I think it has more of a lush, dreamy, realistic sound.

It just boils down to which ever mod has the sound I'm looking for to fit the script I writing.

I noticed that too, I didn't even care about those types of patches before I bought, but I found that those are the most impressive presets. There is no bass presets that I like (I have to try the patches that downloaded from Sweet Water), but strings and pads are impressive.

Yeah G, that's whats up!. My beard grayed out as a result of being around all this electronic gear all these years.

Until today...its been almost a decade since I last owned one. Just returned home from Shibuya with the MPC 4000BL.....now I just need to find a place to put it in the lab.

It came with 272MB RAM, 80 GB hard drive, and effects. None of the expansions boards were included. I will most likelly not purchase any of the optional expansion boards but will install CDRW drive and look into adding modern storage options if possible. Also, white pads over the standard grey ones would look better I think.

This MPC is here to stay. An MPC 60, SP1200, or a TR808 is my next purchase.

Edit - Found an IDE compact flash card reader/writer in my box of spare parts. Removed the hard drive and replaced it with the CF card without any issues. The 4K read it immediately as an MPC 2500 disk. Now the 4K is much quieter.
