I've been scratching my head about these different CCs to control MPCs internal sounds.

MIDI IN (MIDI CC #01 Modulation wheel)
MIDI IN (MIDI CC #02 or 74 => Filter Cutoff)
MIDI IN (MIDI CC #71 => Filter resonance)

At least for Filter Cutoff the "CC Value->Frequency"-relation isn't quite clear to me as it seems that eg. with LPF value 127 doesn't give fully opened filter (rather it's barely opened) or value 0 doesn't close it entirely and it's relative to the frequency set to the program (which is nice tho). Seems like I'm not in control of the sounds like I'd want to or something weird is going on.

I'd expect it to work similar to main screen Q-link LPF, am I mistaken here or is there a bug?

nevermind got it working... set FRQ to 100 & DPTH -100 and now it goes from fully open -> fully closed for LPF and vice versa for HPF. MINT!

edit: also FRQ 0, DPTH 0 works. What was causing me confusion was that every time sequencer gets stopped it doesn't remember the last filter midi-cc value, but resets to program value (makes sense). Solved.

Maybe the slider value is absolute, and the CC is relative.

If you have your pad set to LPF 20, and send a CC 74=0, it will be 20. If you send CC 74=127 it will be 100.

So if you want your CC to close it fully, you'd set LPF FRQ to 0 in the program, and send CC 74=0.

If LPF FRQ = 100 in the program, and you send CC 74=0, it's relative, so the floor is set to 100, and the CC says to go to the bottom of the floor, which is the top, so it will do nothing.

I tested, and if I set a pad to FRQ=0, and send CC value of 0, it will be silent, because all frequencies are filtered. If I send CC = 127, it will sound like FRQ were set to 100. If I set pad to be FRQ=50, and send CC value of 0, it will only filter half the frequencies, so you can hear muffled sound. If I set FRQ=127, and CC = 0, nothing will happen because all frequencies are unfiltered.

Other bit of :hmmm: is caused by the mod wheel. WAVE FORM and RATE control the type of modulation, but it seems not to be possible to set what it modulates (pitch, filt, level) and by the sound of it it sounds like it's pitch mod?

Yeah, it's affecting the LFO PITCH setting. You can go into the LFO page and change the WAVE FORM and RATE to hear it change as the mod wheel is turned up.
