scsi zip drive problem

i have 2 scsi zip cables, one I order it NEW, the other came with the scsi zip.

I went to the format page, and i format it !
My mpc 3000 now can read the scsi ZIP drive ! ! !

I recently joined the mpc 3000 club

I have had the same problem.

Except when I attempt to format my scsi drive (Iomega 100 zip)
It still fails to find the device

The drive works with other machines fine
The drive is set to ON & 5
I have tried the auto & 5 scsi settings on the 3k
I have tried various disks
Have powered up the drive before the 3k (as recommended)
I have tried to format first and still getting nothing.

Pretty sure it is the scsi fuse (have a few of the big maplins ones As recommended by a forum member

"Heads up for any UK users needing to replace MPC3000 scsi fuse. Maplins Auto-reset circuit breaker 1.0A (order code AK07H) works fine and resets if you blow it again!"

Can anyone suggest anything i may have missed or shall I just change the fuse??

One other SMALL possibility could be the cable. Both ends of a scsi cable are labeled, and should be pugged accordingly. The end that says zip should be plugged into the actual drive.

I was pretty sure that did not matter :/
I thought the cables had both logos to make visual identification easy when having cables in both ports??
Well anyway... As it happens it was that way around.

So are we in agreement that I should warm the soldering iron??

Clipped the N25 fuse off and soldered two wires from the terminals to the replacement maplins fuse (mounted on a metal bracket) screwed to an added spacer inside the Mpc

Turned on and it recognised the drive instantly
