Yo Elmacaco, got a question

What do you think of the MINIMOOG V software. Could I use my w30 to work the sounds on the software? Would I run the w30 to the usb port? Is it worth getting?

u can use your w30 midi out, or your mpc to sequence it, u just need a midi interface for your computer..

id suggest buying an audiophile 2496 soundcard, maybe even off ebay if u can get one mad cheap, soooo worth the 50-100 youll pay, good latency, solid card for sure

I'm not elmacaco but I agree with erkl, it's a very decent soft synth and for 170.00(that's what I paid for it) it's definitley a bargain.

u need a midi interface and a soundcard with asio support or ur gonna hit the key and it will trigger the pc 2 secs later. why dont u pm elmac or ask anyone for help. anyways u should get all this on ebay where it is real cheap. Get a maudio delta 66 soundcard, $180 , and a midiman 2 x 2 $30 to $40interface for the pc. The mini moog is tight. i have tried both and they sound good.

If you don't already have a decent soundcard and midi interface then you'll be limited to only being able to sample the sounds you create with it(that's not necesarrily a bad thing) cuz with a shitty soundcard/midi interface you won't be happy with the latency.

Are you asking anyone in general or do you need elmacaco to validate it for you? Well I'll go ahead and say that it's a great soft synth and I think you'd like it but you'll need to upgrade to at least a semi decent soundcard/midi interface(the audiophile 2496 will work well).

thats all u need to run anyoff that software. u just got to have a soundcard with asio. also make sure ur pc has got a lot of ram. and run msconfig in start menu under run. in there turn of boot up start up items and goto the menu with all the start up shit and turn off all the wackness. with a scard like that and a midi interface u should be stragiht.

this is what i said above, get the M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard, its the cheapest M-Audio card, cheaper than the delta - but for midi itll be the same thing..
it has 1 midi in and 1 midi out, thats all you need.. it has great ASIO drivers, and will only cost around 50 dollars used on ebay i bet..

just replace it with your current soundcard, and youll be able to run vst's all sequenced from your mpc...

as for the miniV VST, I feel like, eh. Arturia stuff sounds pretty good but is processor hungry and can't do audio rate modulation or feedback, both of wich a real minimoog or Voyager excels at, so I would rule against it.

A good soundcard and midi interface is a good idea, in that order, but as far as synths go, I doubt you will use it as much as you use actual hardware.

yeah, best to set up your computer for audio stuff and see how you like it before you start dealing with VST's and hosts and all that stuff. Get a better recording set up before you just set up for vst's for the sake of it.

Yo man, Im like real close (I think) to getting, or trying to get, a microkorg. I played with it at guitar center and think its cool. I could use a synth. I 've been hearing some great things about it too.
Whats up with the vocoder? I hear it can be used to create some nice bass. And also, I hear you can change the preset sounds in the microkorg, how so if it isnt a sampler?

Vocoder takes two signals and imparts the frequency response of one to the other. Typical usage is to have the synth be the carrier (the sound you hear) and have your voice through a mic as the modulator (the sound that shapes the carrier) so you get the robot voice effect, you are only hearing the synth, but your voice controls variousl filters to make it sound like it's talking. You can run any signal as the modulator, not just your voice.

It isn't a sampler because it can't sample sounds, it has sound generating circuits which you can vary parameters on and get different sounds than the presets.
