My brother bought me this soundcard today...

Do you think this could be used for half decent recordings from my mpc? Appearently the sound is clean.

look into the digital input if there is one.

it should work for what you want, however dont expect miracles...I think consumer devices as such might got tendency to color sound since they're made to make music/games sound good. but if it sound good to your ears then by any means use it!

I successfully used a soundblaster sound card for many years when I was just using FL Studio. One thing I found very helpful was downloading a special set of ASIO drivers that were better optimized than the ones that came with my card. You can find them at asio4all.com.

Yep. I used to get latency numbers as good as up to $300 interfaces from the usual suspects (M-audio, Presonus etc.) using a $25 Soundblaster PCI and ASIO4All. Like Konc3pt said turn off any DSP mixer crap on that thing though.
