Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

Akai, we all want the new MPC line to succeed. We obviously have found something about the mpc workflow that we love along the way.

But... YOU MUST SPEAK TO US IF TOU WANT THIS TO BE A SUCCESS FOR YOU!

Look at Native Instrumenst, I personally Do not like the Maschine, its ok but to many things left out that are needed for it to be close to an MPC.

BUT, NI as a company speak to the consumers constantly!!!

Always let them know the status of updates!

Don't just avoid comments when they are legit features that are not in the Ren yet, Address them and put ppl at ease knowing you will fix/add those features promply and keep up updated!!

Remember you are asking for 600 more Dollars than your competition.

You are competing for attention in music shops for ( young kids money ) who walk in and see the bright lights of the mkii and then see the MPC, That they 1. don't have any history with... 2. Don't know why its important...3. Don't know why they should spend the extra money when the other lights up more ..

lol but its true for the young kids, trust me, look at the fantom g vs the motif and m3, fantom g was way more expensive, online they could have read about all the bugs that crippled that machine, the xs sounds better to (most ppl), and was cheaper...
But they all bought the fantom G, why?? It looked cooler to them, looked like it could do anything.

You can even open your own dedicated site for these updates, but you must communicate!!!

...if the new small mpc studio would also be an audio interface like the ren...

they might have a succesful product....

i'm afraid this new mpc line won't fly at all....

first thing i did when i got my 2000 in the 90ties...i paint it black....could'nt live with the hospital grey....
and hell, yeah, you're right.....the ren is such an ugly **** again....thats maybe why it's called renaisaance....
but still better then the berlin table disco .....

the kids get along with a micromachine anyway...whatever you do...

gonna buy a new mpc soon....this time it's a 1000 with jjos....
before they finally built no real machines anymore.....selling only blinking controlers....like all the others...

If I were working for akai I wouldn't post on this site either to be honest. Also if I'm not mistaken I seem to remember some of akais people on this site posting but getting shit rained down on them.

Exactly why I wouldn't post back either. And this MAY be the reason xparis just recently posted a few times but only leaving short, 1 sentence messages. Because some muhfuggas just don't know how to act.

I would suggest that Akai establish a permanent presence at the forum. I think some of the resentment come from Akai/Numark only showing up when they want to pitch a new product.

A good idea would be to set up a mod approved Q&A thread that the Akai guys can address without talking on fire. That doesn't mean the Qs have to softball bvllshi+ but it will give them a chance to respond. It would also show what questions and issues they duck making them accountable on customer service and problem issues.

Using this method Numark/Akai writes their own legacy on this forum by responding and interacting or by staying tightlipped and saying "Fk you. Thanks for the cash".

They already tried to come in and answer questions, and people got rowdy, failed. Doesn't have to be mod approved, some people just need to behave is all. Very good idea but it was already tried.

When i said "mod controlled" ( should've said mod-filtered) a mod would allow the submissions in one thread, Lock it after a deadline, Let Akai respond unchallenged. You could run it similar to the beat contest.

example :

Submission Thread 1 + deadline with set limit of approved questions/thread[/b]
*mod approves what questions make the cut

Response to Submission Thread 1 (Responses only from Akai staff)
Akai can respond to as many or few as they like -with as much/little detail as the please without the threat of being blasted for unwanted response.

** Akai staff could simply PM the responses so the thread doesn't have to be left open to post their response.

I do think we need to draw a line under this urban myth that Akai always get 'driven away' from the forum. This place has 45,000 of their customers plus another 50,000 unregistered passing through each month, each one with a differing personal experience of akai, and as a whole, representing a good selection of all walks of life.

As such, in addition to the large majority of decent people asking well thought out questions, there's always going to be the odd ass-hole. That's just life, especially for a company that has sold to (millions?) of people over the years.

It's clear to me that while Akai were initially here, excited and enthusiastic about their new product, eagerly answering every question fired at them, the mood was incredibly positive and 99% of people were polite.

Ultimately if you are a company representative on a 3rd party forum like this full of tens of thousands of your customers, you really have to be prepared to stick at it, dedicate some time every day or at least every couple of days, and try to integrate yourself into the community for the long term and not just when it suits you. You can't fall back on 'I'm really busy making products for you' type excuses, nor can you grumble that there were a couple of rude assholes giving you tough time - you get plenty of rude assholes everywhere in this world, and I'm pretty sure Akai will get them regularly on their 'get satisfaction' site, twitter, email, phone, etc.

As for setting up a special pre-moderated Q&A section, nope, no need if the above advice is followed.

To be fair, I think Dan is definitely getting there, he stuck around for a few months before disappearing  Seriously, you can feel that people have a lot of respect for Dan because he did stick around, he did stand up for himself against some of the assholes, and he didn't tend to cherry pick which questions to answer. And that's what we need from Akai on a permanent basis.
