My post above stands - if Akai, NI, or any other manufacturer who has a lot of customers here want to participate in the forums here they are free to do so as an equal member of the community to the customers they are interacting with. No special treatment - just get stuck in and take the rough with the smooth.

If anyone needs support they can always log a case with akai. I don't see how a forum conversation with Akai is going to add any value anyways.

Seriously? You can't see it adding any value when a company openly talks, listens and generally engages with their customers in an open forum?

NI engaged forum members via Q&A 6x in 3 years (and had about that number of software updates). These Q&A sessions are simply about added features. Also, they do release information regarding upcoming OS releases....whether the OS is in development..beta, etc.

No, no, no, no. I'm talking about some of the guys from Akai just simply being part of the community here, basically just hanging out with their customers, having conversations, having a laugh. Chewing the fat, talking tech stuff, helping out with support, posting beats, etc. Why be a faceless corporation when you can directly engage in an open community with many of your customers and potential customers? As I said before, Dan was beginning to do exactly that, and people immediately warmed to him - it was just a natural thing to do when you actually realise that at at least some levels within it, a company is actually made up of friendly, like-minded individuals, people who if they were not an employee of that company would be hanging out here anyway.

I'm pretty sure most of the guys from Akai are very similar to most of us here; geeky electronic musicians who live and breathe the MPC line. So why hide in the shadows, lurking around when you have an entire, well established and popular forum set up entirely around your products?

If someone set up a 3rd party forum all about my books (I wish!), don't you think I'd want be a permanent part of that community, even though I'd no doubt get some grief and tough questions along the way? How wonderful, someone willing to deal with all the admin, headaches, trolls, legal issues and running costs while I get to reap all the benefits

There was Mike Acosta from Roland posting on MV Nation who did a great job, supporting the MV8000/ 8800 products for a while. Even though I didn't own an MV he made me want to try one, due to his enthusiasm, knowledge and videos.

One person making the right moves is all it takes.

it's a deep mystery to me why akai all of a sudden pulled out from forums, yt videos, irl events, promo etc.. not to mention the extensive delay and silent release... very abnormal behavior, especially for the launch of such a milestone product considering all the hoopla they made about it right after namm some 8 months ago

2. UPDATE STATUS just like NI , so we always know where we stand and what features will be in the next update.

Let me help clear up the deep mystery, it is simply a very serious game of poker. Why should Akai show their hand to NI and all other companies gunning for them. Because as soon as the tool gets released for real, if it is hot, it will sell, regardless of how much Akai talked about it on You tube and in the forums before hand. Some may hold a grudge but many more (including myself) will buy the product. And I understand the feeling of wanting to see more, I too searched everyday for new info, like a crack fein looking for a fix. But now that the product is released and, soon I will be able to test it out at GC and Sam Ash, all the other stuff is in the past...its time to move forward. Now all I need is more money.

Lol no, I'm not monsta, Im just a producer that works on alot of big major label projects and I want akai to know this has to be treated like its also going to be used by producers who do this for a living. We should have a voice.

Im not knocking anyones style or taste but think about this....

The producers they had helping add ideas and promoting, a few of them are legends, really big smash records they have produced, even an r&b producer who has huge records.

Thats great but..... How many of those guys have anything charting currently? The sound of hip hop ( r&b is pretty dead for now ) is nothing like it was when they were hot.

So why not, since your market is the seemingly 1000000000 new age 16-22 producers, (fl studio type) and the other side, ppl like skrillex, big pop producers like dr luke.... etc.....

Get some of our opinions on features, figure out how you could make it make more sense with with small enhancements/tricks these ppl use to craft sounds/drums in abelton/pro tools/logic.... just to stay ahead of the curve.... sample based boom bap, I loved it, but its really like 2% of the music market place, and the mpc already is good for that.

lets keep moving forward......

When you get the MPC Ren and check the 'About MPC' menu, it gives a list of thank yous to producers that dedicated their time and energy. While I don't know all the names...some of them stuck out and do have current/recent hits on the charts.
