possible to seperate vocals from the track on a record?

how's everybody doin,i just wanted to know if it was possible to seprate a vocal on records from the track?? i watched a production video and the dude sed sumthing about turnin the vocals to the left and the track to the right. is this truly possible to do or is there any other method to doing this??

he was using just a normal record???

or was he working on a project THEY did? because if he had the vocals and the music on seperate tracks that would work. but I've never heard of anyone bein able to do that.

yea i was thinking the same thing too i mean if that were possible wowowowowowowow! i'd be flippin right now.

old records used to have the vocal track on a channel and the beat on the other so if you have a record such as this and sample it in stereo then split the channels on might just have the vocals by themselves if your lucky.. the way i have my turntable setup is the left on channel 1 of my mixer and the right on channel 2 (i only have one turntable) this way i can just move the crossfader and see whats what on each channel.

there is some software that will remove vovals but the vocals had to be mono no panning in da track so it inst that much usefull but know i saw a hardware device comming out that could digitally remove vocals 90 95 percent of the time no matter where it was in da mix so wait its coming

yea and it'll probably take most of the track quality with it!!

i hate those vocal removers. they never do what they're supposed to

it works like this. Most vocals are mixed in the cneter channel. the vocal seperaters block out that center channel and give u the left and right channels so the vocals are elimated if they arent panned.

so basically the sounds that arent panned hard left/right will be taken away with the vocals

then whats left? c r a p
